With a bomb strapped to his chest, one of the Boston Marathon suspects was killed early Friday after he and his accomplice robbed a 7-Eleven, shot a police officer to death, carjacked an SUV and hurled explosives out the window in an extraordinary firefight with law enforcement, authorities told NBC News.

They were prepping for a second larger wave, and were waiting for the signal to do so. The FBI putting the pictures up triggered them to go earlier. The amount of firepower and IED’s in their possession gives evidence to a second larger strike. I am assuming a suicide attack either on one of the campuses, or on mass transit.
FOX News said NPR is reporting that a third person is involved.

Robbing a 7-11 and carjacking while your photos are on display for the world to see in connection with a bombing is like robbing a bank and standing in front of it with a bag of money in one hand a pistol in the other and saying, “What? I didn’t do anything.”
They were unable to complete "Terrorism for Dummies".
If they couldn’t get back to their apartments for their wallets and stuff. They might have robbed the 7-11 to get cash for a run to a safe house.
Boston PD police being ferried up to the site via city bus? What happened to all those APC’s homeland security acquired and where are they?
Obviously they have no money and were hungry. Obviously they have no car, since they hyjacked one. Obviously they have no brains, either.
They’re trying to avoid generating a lynch-mob mentality.

It's a matter of logistics. Get more boots on the ground w/o clogging up the streets with vehicles. Why would you be sending in APC's anyhow?

Wow! I wonder...if they hadn’t killed Suspect #1 and apparently were able to id him from fingerprints since he was here on a visa, would the FBI still be looking for the wrong two people that were named??? Amazing!
And since the Imam drilled into their heads that Allah is all powerful and their cause just, they believed themselves to be bulletproof against the stupid sons of pigs and dogs.
