I need help with this one. How can you buy a firearm in another state without a valid drivers license in the state where the purchase occurs? Even at gun shows in another state of your residence you cannot buy a fire arm. Am I wrong on this one?

It is legal to buy a long gun in a state where one is not a legal resident, but it has to be transferred from a licensed dealer, at his licensed premises (can't remember if it allows for buying from a dealer at a gun show) with relevant NICS check and 4473 form done. The purchase and possession of the firearm must be legal both where purchased, and where the buyer resides, though I don't know if that is checked in any way.

It is not legal to buy a handgun in another state by any means.

BTW, are these Chechen practitioners of the ROP?

Oh yes, and they are among the most enthusiastic practitioners of jihad.

Many have become mercenaries, fighting with the Taliban in AFG, with AQ in Irag, and training jihadists in Pakistan.

It is thought the Mumbai terrorists were trained by Chechen mercenaries.

Muslims of the Caucasus are among the most radicalized Muslims out there. They are capable of stuff that would make Hamas jihadis say “man, you crazy.”

That entire area has been a war zone for hundreds of years, back to the days of the Tsars and the Ottomans. The Chechen Wars in the ‘90s were full of atrocities on all sides. Chechen and Ingush Muslims brought us the Beslan school massacre, the Moscow theatre siege, female suicide bombers blowing Russian passenger aircraft out of the sky, and hostage sieges at a hospital in Buddyonovsk in 1995 and on a Russian airbase in 1996. The sheer ferocity of the fighting in the Caucasus especially over the past 20 years is stunning.

Start deporting all of these creatures, just to be on the safe side

An ex-SS Officer accused of various Nazi war crimes died in Detroit a few weeks ago. His US Citizenship was revoked in 1996. Yet he died of natural causes in his suburban Detroit home because absolutely no country could be found that would take him.

My condolences on the loss of your Rottie. Have you thought of replacing her with a Great Dane?

I wouldn’t necessarily mock the Shelter In Place concept. It is a fairly well-established protocol that I am familiar with as a Evacuation Team member.

Lets say you were sick and needed to go to the doctor or hospital. Or if you need to go care for a sick relative. What if you needed to pick up medication?

You really want to leave your house with SWAT all around and risk getting killed? At a minimum, you'll end up on the ground and in handcuffs before they can sort out who you are.

You call the police emergency line, give them your address and tell them you have a medical emergency. They will get you meds, get you out (if they can, safely), etc. I have worked police dispatch during a situation with a guy barricaded in an apartment building .... black powder bombs, AK, etc. This is how it worked for those in the apartments who couldn't leave & who called for help - mom with sick kid, etc. .... dispatch relayed the situation to the command post & the police made sure they all got help.

I LOVE Great Danes! Unfortunately, we’ve moved to a condo where the association has decreed that “thou shalt not have a dog heavier than 40 lbs.”

We’re starting to look into buying a house with some acreage.

I'd rather "shelter in place" with a gun trained on the door.

The Governor and other associated moonbats have us virtually disarmed here.

Understood and agree.

.....and if you happen to drive a Honda crv, take the bus to work or you'll end up like Clint did in the "Gaunlet", if you're lucky.

I heard the Cops/FBI/ATF/DHS and the other 1000 or so government paramilitary groups are going door to door looking for this mudscum.

Will Boston residents with firearms in their homes be subject to arrest and asset seizure? If you have a dog, make sure he's muzzled and tethered in the basement or there could be more causalties..../s

It is very nice weather today in Boston - I just took the dog out for a walk. People aren’t going to stay inside forever.

..........lol, except for a few parts of Austin, cops and pols around Texas would not dream of telling an entire major city to stay locked up in their houses, hiding under the bed for one punk 19 year old kid................almost nobody would do it even if it was ORDERED!

to be sure, thousands of guys/gals that would normally leave their guns at home would have them on their front seat and within reach but business would go on...............

Shelter in place in MA = Lock and load in AR.

I have a two year old black and white mantled Dane whose ears have not been mutilated. He looks a lot like an overgrown hound and is incredibly sweet and loving, also quite nice to visitors and tradespeople, unless somebody ever tries to threaten me. With him around nobody has even even wanted to.

But the general thrust of my question was ... under what authority, or where is it permitted for the police to issue such an order.

Essentially this is the denial of liberty or imprisonment without due course of law. There is no judicial review, no warrant etc.

Just don’t complain if you get caught in the crossfire. It’s pretty typical during a pursuit situation for them to want civilians to stay away, no reason to get people shot or give the bad guy hostages.
