GE Capital Cuts Off Lending to Gun Shops By JOE PALAZZOLO And KATE LINEBAUGH
General Electric Co. is quietly cutting off lending to gun shops, as the company rethinks its relationship to firearms amid the fallout from the school shooting in Newtown, Conn.
This month, Glenn Duncan, owner of Duncan's Outdoor Store in Bay City, Mich., said he received a letter from GE Capital Retail Bank in which the lender said it had made "the difficult decision" to stop providing financing services to his store. Other gun dealers have received similar notices.
GE is at least the second big financial firm to retreat from the gun business following the school shootings, which claimed the lives of 20 first-graders and six adults in December.
Days after the killings, private-equity firm Cerberus Capital Management LP said it would try to sell the gun company it ownsFreedom Group Inc. which makes brands including Remington, Bushmaster, Marlin and H&R.
The moves highlight how companies, closely attuned to the concerns of investors and employees, have reacted to public horror caused by the attacks, even as complicated political considerations doomed new gun-control legislation in the Congress.

GE took time off from building their shoddy appliances to P off the few remaining people who don’t already hate their guts?
This crap has to stop.
Come on ,, What could make you say such a thing ,, just because Jeffrey Immelt is a close advisor and wants to have the gravy train for GE continue? I’d be embarrassed to draw such a conclusion , Mr. Immelt is above such acts of sucking up ,, besides that’s Reggie Loves job.. and he’s good at it.
We had FUBO and now we have FUGE...
Total boycott. Check before you buy. If G.E. is in there anywhere... NO SALE!
Was GE ever an American company? Is it owned by the French?
I am in the market for a new freezer. GE just lost me as a potential customer.
Jeffery Immelt’s nose is so firmly planted in The One’s derriere, Immelt would be permanently disfigured if Obama made a quick turn. GE is so deep into the American economy (healthcare, transportation, finance, power transmission, etc.), there’s little they don’t touch in some way so this is really not surprising. What was your question about pressure again????
If you think GE is bad, then you don't even want to touch GE Capital with a 10 foot pole. And that was before this sh*t.
Sounds like a great business opportunity for a gun friendly lender to generate a lot of new, high-quality business.
Just another reason to do all your business with smaller, local banks. No BOA, WF, etc. When you take govt bailouts, you are forever in their debt. This is all on orders from Obama, fascism is alive and well here in the USA
Good move. Isn’t the lib that runs “big” GE also Obama’s Jobs tsar? So you see where this is coming from. I almost wish I had a reason to go to them for money, just so I could tell them NOPE.
Hunters are big customers for large freezers. I wouldn't buy any household appliance from them now.
Seriously, this should not even be an option for any financial company that receives even one dime of taxpayer money.
Any financial company that makes a decision like this while receiving (or owing) taxpayer funds for any reason, is a de-facto example of tortious interference.
I wonder if these GE banks actually have bank guards and if so-—what are they armed with?
Water pistols???
What a bunch of hypocrites!!!!
Guess who doesn’t get any he;p of protection when the SHTF? Anyone associated with these banks, IMO.

Tortious interference with what?
Odd business decision. Gun retailers, gun manufacturers, ammo manufacturers, suppliers, etc. are having a VERY POSITIVE cashflow year(s). Who more able in a tanking economy to pay the bank back?
Time is short.
