On a quest for adventure, we decided to see what the big deal was with guns and shooting, so we organized a field trip to the local shooting range. It was going to be a big time, as none of us had fired a gun in real life. . . . .
The girls got their 22 pistols and were getting set up when someone shot what sounded like a cannon. Stephanie screamed, Linda jumped and I wet my pants.

Yeah, but the SEC football game they mentioned in the article was last year . . . it's an old article.
Was this a year or two ago? There are no “stacks” of ammunition anywhere, except for Janet’s house.
I normally clear the pistol range when I’m shooting my 500 S&W Magnum. I now go first thing in the morning, 8:00AM, to give them a break.
Did you see the first comment to the article? These people have no idea.
The kick from a 9mm would barely be enough to wake most experienced shooters from a light nap. I think what he meant was, "These idiots are total noobs and I don't want them suing me if they do something stupid."
So, the guy peed his pants? Eye roll.
Hello Kitty .22 special?
Don’t matter what rifle cartridge they are shooting, using muzzle brakes will make Hellen Keller Jump.
I used to get a similar reaction with my .50 Desert Eagle. I know the .500 is a substantially more powerful cartridge, but the gas operation of the Eagle vents out the sides, so while it was not at all unpleasant to shoot, it was definitely unpleasant to be beside somebody who was shooting it.
I always wonder what they ‘expected’. Its a shooting range. You shoot at targets. Other people shoot at targets. Good times had by all.

.22 special? Never heard of it. Must be the love child of a .38 Special and a .17 HMR.
I don’t know what state they belong to but AL has more than its share of nuts. I hate reading the posts by some of them.
The writer adds suspense to his article by mentioning that a “cannon” was fired but doesn’t have the intellectual curiosity to find out what it was and share that info with us (The friendly range master would have known).
Given that they are noobs, my guess is the “cannon” was a .45 ACP.
Lots of comments but the one that should matter is, that’s 3 more people who the NRA should be reaching out to.
I really don’t care what they fired, the name of the weapon or caliber. They tried something that most liberals are afraid of and they had a good time doing it.
Hats off to them.

So your’e the guy in the lane next to me that gave me a permanent flinch. :-)
I was at the range with my Boy Scouts once. A guy lugged his gear up. The first thing he takes out is a huge round and puts it on the stand. Everyone immediately moved away from him.
It was a 40mm AA round from WW2.
Sorry about that.... The last time out, I shot 90 rounds of 350 GR. Deep Curls. My wrists let me know that night and for a few days, afterwards.
I still haven’t reloaded the brass. I have another 350 rounds, ready to “rock and roll”.
