Look at this scenario:
His performance was abysmal last season, we was about to be cut from the team and drift quietly into obscurity. So he thinks, "What could I do OFF the court that would insure they can't get rid of me for my performance ON the court?" So he gets the idea (or more likely a media savy rep does) "Play the Gay Card!!" the liberal media is praying for a pro athlete to come out and this will give your flagging career a huge boost, better yet, your team can't fire you for fear of being labeled homophobic.
That’s one way a poor put upon White Man can fight the system. I bet there are more than a few folks of both sexes making that claim in pusuit of economic security.
Any team that doesn’t fall all over itself trying to sign him will immediately be branded “homophobic.” Brilliant!
That’s pretty pathetic, if you ask me. And what does it convey?
