The third sentence in the first paragraph of the article is: Often, a recalcitrant prisoner must be extracted from his cell through brute force.

Perhaps it would help you if you do a search in Merriam-Webster.com on recalcitrant like I did and found out that it means: obstinately defiant of authority or restraint

I know. I watch Lock Up a lot. Ive seen them do extractions. I was trying to channel Steven Wright. I need to work on my delivery I guess.
