They can't get past Obama's Praetorian Guard, that's why. About the only thing they can do, is to look into a camera and ask Obama those questions remotely. Some Congress critters are doing just that, and I hope that more and more do.
What's heartening, is that even some media figures and rat politicians are beginning to openly wonder "why?" I, for one, acknowledge and applaud that sea change. It's more than we've seen in five years of this national horror.
And the situation for the regime is getting worse as days go by - not better. They're not getting a handle on any of these scandals. They're festering, and deepening mistrust on the part of the American people.
Make no mistake, the IRS scandal is the hammer that pounded the other scandals into people's heads. That went straight to the bone, because that agency affects the lives of every productive American. It's now clear that the IRS is being used as the enforcement arm of the administration in a way that can only be seen as downright diabolical.
There's simply no way to sugar coat it, and even a fool knows that the corruption goes straight to the top.

I've noticed the same thing recently, even Chris Wallace on FNC did it. WTH? Why be so deferential to these people? It's obvious the zero admin is trotting these people out (Miller, Pfieffer, Rice, et al) to float trial balloons to see what will work, then - if they need to change their narrative - to claim these people as mere underlings who got the issues confused (and then throw them under the bus).
I can't see how being nice to them will help the "news" media, while they (media) are never so deferential to those on the Right.
At least a few on the hard Left are asking probing questions. It's a start.

I watched Schieffer and it seemed to me that he emotionally apologized to Pfieffer at the end of the interview.
The Obama Administration was using the Benghazi Consulate to take advanced weapons from the ex Libyan military inventory and transfer them to Syrian Rebel forces loyal to Al Qaeda via a Turkish intermediate Cut Out.
Amb Stevens last action in Benghazi was to meet with the Turkish intermediary to transfer the arms shipment.
Finding and getting control of the missing and stolen ex Libyan military hardware and collecting the weapons for disposal , especially Libya’s sophisticated anti aircraft missiles (more capable than the famous US Stinger missile that the mujahadeen used to bring the Soviets to their knees in Afghanistan) ), was the primary mission the CIA and the ex Seal Contractors in Benghazi.
They were very good at their jobs and had collected quite a weapons cache which they had in their possession.
The Obama preferred method of disposal of these weapons was to transfer them to Syrian Al Qaeda forces supposedly for use in Syria against Assad.
This has been reported in the open Media.
