I don't think I ever called a patient “hon”. Their names were on the wall over their bed. If I did, it was was rare. You do the treatment necessary and leave, or you change bed linen as needed. Unless the patient wanted to talk to you, you discuss as a professional...at times its hard, but that's life in the hospital...There were patients even the doctors didn't want to take care of, but they did as was needed. It was in a city general hospital, we got everything imaginable that came in via ER. You just keep personal feeling to yourself....
