And the Darwin Award for the “most stoopid thing to do on a dark road in the middle of nowhere”

I dunno about that. When we were young, me and my friends did ALOT of stupid things

But until the "Statute of limitations runs out, I'm not saying nothin'

(wink, wink)

Either this guy has huevos the size of cantaloupes, or he's as crazy as an outhouse rat. Maybe a little of both.

There was no reason to kill the snake. A phone call would have had it placed into local zoo or preserve.

Ha ha ha. There are reportedly perhaps hundreds of thousands of pythons now in central Florida. They are wiping out the wildlife much less pets and humans. It is a serious problem down there.

Sure. Wow, you really don’t know about it. With family down there it is sort of a side interest of mine. :-). It is quite hard to believe actually. Do a google on “burmese pythons florida” you will see a lot of articles. The wiki article is a good summary. They don’t know how many - tens of thousands to over hundred thousand based on what has happened to the wildlife, e.g. 99% decrease in raccoons ans 88% decrease in deer. It is so bad they welcome people coming in and killing them.

88% decrease in DEER?

C’mon, I used to work with exotics. Have you any idea how big a constrictor would have to be to take down and swallow a Deer?

Yes. Significant problem down there. Do a google on python florida deer and there are several articles. One indicated a 76 lb intact deer in the stomach. I worry about these things spreading and migrating outwards once they run out of food.

Another article I read once interviewed a everglades park ranger. You would like that one as he described first hand what he has seen happen over the years. With your background you would find it interesting.

Well when you stand before God and he kinda keans in and says, “Hey, you remember that time you did...”

And you stand back and kinda cring at the thought...

You tell him, “You remember that???”

hehehe...I have a good feeling there will be a few uncomfortable moments during that proceding...But hey, I also have a good feeling that a good poke in the arm, or a slap on the butt, and we’ll hear a lot of “Next in line!!!”

I’m not sweating my eternity...I know I’ll screw up again before I shed this mortal coil...

I think I'm pretty aquare with God, it's the "stink eye" looks I'm goonna get from a lotta relatives/family friends that thought I was a 'little angel" in my youth, I dread. (sheepishly grins)

Yes they DO get that big(witness this thread)but I suspect most of the decrease in deers is in fawns or yearlings. Google alligator, python, and burst and you will find a pix of an alligator that burst out of an python that managed to swallow it, in the everglaades(iirc)

I know how big they can get. I referred to the ones in Fla.

Well, since the article is about "Enormous python killed in Florida is a state record", evidently they do.

(rolls eyes)

Listen up “rolls eyes”, what I said was I doubt any Fla constrictors of any kind could take down a Deer.

I stand by that.

Even with your clumsy attempt at parsing of words you're still wrong.

The python is a constrictor, is large and in Fla.

From Wikipedia:

"Exceptionally large pythons may even require larger food items such as pigs or goats, and are known to have attacked and eaten alligators and adult deer in Florida, where they are an invasive species."

As a "newbie" to FR, you got to learn to get your facts straight here, cuz there's lots of real experts here to correct you when you're clearly in over your head.
