Bill Kristol tells Marco Rubio to ‘walk’ on plan [Some RINOs Not Buying Amnesty]
Politico ^ | 5/21/13 | MACKENZIE WEINGER

The Weekly Standard’s Bill Kristol has some advice for Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) on the Senate’s immigration reform bill: Walk away.

“He should walk away from it,” Kristol said Tuesday on “The Laura Ingraham Show.” “He should say, I made a good faith effort, but you know what, this is not a piece of legislation.”

...Instead, immigration reform should be dealt with issue-by-issue rather than by one comprehensive piece of “bad legislation,” Kristol said.

“Think of the trust you have to have in bureaucracy to make all this work,” he said. “There’ll be certifications and border security, there’ll be tests of whether people paid back taxes. … If you like Obamacare, you should like this immigration bill. And I honestly think conservatives should oppose it on those grounds alone.”

Kristol said Republicans and the Florida senator should wait on tackling immigration until conditions are more favorable for the party — for example, in 2015, when he said there will be more Republicans in Congress or in 2017, when “perhaps there’s a Republican president.”

“Think of the trust you have to have in bureaucracy to make all this work,” he said.

This is EXACTLY the point I've been trying to make when I call Senator Rubio...

MORE to the point, why would anyone trust Barack Hussein Obama on any piece of legislation he signs??

Seriously, it is common sense: Obama has publicly declared he won't enforce DOMA...the LAW of the land...he PROMISED there would be no taxpayer funded abortion in his wildly unpopular DeathCare Law....and that is a blatant falsehood....He has turned his back on allies of ours in Israel, Egypt, and Iraq....why would anyone believe he would enforce the immigration law??

He won't.

Walk? He will stick because as their BS ad on radio says, “to do nothing is the true amnesty”. He will sell the US just like all of his cohorts do and trot off to another cocktail party and celebrate their pension and life time healthcare.

Bill Kristol giving advice on Conservative reason, is like Jeoffrey Dahlmer giving advice on dietary considerations.

There is nothing wrong with enforcement of existing laws. More laws with the same non enforcement will remain a non solution.

Rubio is just pursuing the amnesty, bring in more of my kind agenda that he has always pursued, but never been honest enough to acknowledge. On this issue, he is one with Schumer and McCain and Gramnesty and Flake and the rest.

I have said it many times and here I am on my soapbox again. We don’t need no stinking new immigration laws!!! We need our legislators to prove their intent by enforcing the laws already on the books first.

Why would anyone think the government would be capable of conducting 11 to 33 million background checks as is the mantra of Rubio? They won’t and can’t. Defacto Amnesty.

The fool Marco Rubio drank the liberal kool-aid and will now pay with a shortened stint in DC politics. Shucky and McGrahmnesty (the two RINOS connected at the ???) are laughing their asses off I’m sure. One Tea Party senator down so on to the next.

those damn commercials I hear on the radio with Rubio and Paul Ryan blathering about this bill are puke inducing ....Rubio says in those ads illegals will not be eligible for any benefits ..then today they pass the amendment that says they are instantly eligible for welfare,etc....where is Rubio on that? nowhere...he’s a damn rotten liar and anyone that calls him naive, then they are a damn fool themselves

When I hear the silly ad on the radio (lots during Rush’s program) talking of a conservative, strong solution for immigration reform and then hear the boy Rubio talking, it just makes me laugh and shake my head.

“The will come out of the shadows, they will pay a fine.....”

Is he effing kidding? Pay a fine? Rubio’s either naive, stupid, or maybe both.

Here's another, perhaps more cynical take on the question:

Rubio is brilliant. There is no doubt about it. It wouldn't take a genius to figure out that the Democrats would push the envelope on immigration, and attempt to legalize ten million new Democrat voters.

So Rubio, who will run in 2016, proposes working on a bill. He gets tons of praise from Dems, libtards, and the MSM..and then he bails on the bill that comes down, rightly blaming the Democrats, and winning back the love and admiration of conservatives. So, in 2016, when Democrats attempt to make immigration their key issue, to win the Latino vote, and keep the WH, Rubio can say, in fluent Spanish.."Hey..it wasn't me..BUT if you elect me president, we will get a workable bill through the Congress. "

I’ve been very disappointed in Rubio for attaching himself to this bill and the others who sponsored it. Detach yourself from it and get away - fast.

Correct - isn’t the fence law?

The border must be secured first - otherwise any solution to deal with those already here - ranging from complete deportation or complete amnesty - is purely an academic discussion. Allowing all of these methods to ‘come out of the shadows’ (pay a fine, comply with background check, etc.) means nothing - what about those would who continue to come across the border, and why would any comply with paying a fine or go with a background check vs. just ‘staying in the shadows’? There is no logic behind pursuing anything else to deal with illegal immigration until our border is secure - you can’t have “comprehensive” reform or anything else without that coming first.

Too late Bill. Little Marco is wedded to the Gang of Eight. He couldn’t shake the taint now even if he tried. He has committed political suicide.

Interesting that Amnesty Liberal Bill Kristol is telling La Raza Rubio to ditch his Rubio-Obama Amnesty bill....it may be worse than what we are hearing

However, someone should tell Komrade Kristol that no Amnesty Liberal GOP will win the Presidency....it is an automatic “stay at home on election day” for Real Conservatives

he voted against it (Flake and Graham voted for it) and that’s a perfect moment to run to the microphone and say, “I’m out” ....but, of course he’s not going to do that

btw Flake and Graham voted against republican efforts to strengthen security in the bill too .....again Marco the liar and fraud could go to the microphones and say “I’m out” ...what does he do? not a damn thing ...f’n lying piece of crap

They have no real interest in controlling the border, all the promises are nothing but hype.
