Curious how much Apple donated? Or Google? Yet Exxon is still treated like the bad guy.

Awesome that Exxon is lending a helping hand.

Sad they chose the Red Cross, they could have spread it around to some of the low overhead, high track record charities, Salvation Army, etc., but perhaps it’s vogue not to appear too Christian with CHARITY these days, Corinthians not withstanding.

Better than government “help” any day of the week.

This gesture will only make the left hate Exxon even more, since the left believes that the tornado was caused by Exxon in the first place.

I hope more people remember to send donations to the Salvation Army. They are always in disaster areas with help - but most everyone donates to the Red Cross.

70%+ of RC’s donations go to overhead; The Salvation Army is far, far less.

When I found out what the RC did with all that money we donated after 9-11-01, I stopped donating to their top-heavy operation.

When the Teton dam ruptured in Idaho, the red cross SOLD blankets to the victims. The Mormon charities took families into their homes at no cost. Just sayin ...

The SA doesn’t wait for the cameras to set up or hand out press releases. They just show up, set up and get to work. RC sucked 50 years ago when I was in the Navy. 9/11 proved to me that they haven’t changed their stripes.

Me, I’d rather go to the individuals and give them money. Or a construction company to start cleaning out and rebuilding - even one home. But there is no write off for companies if they do it the better way.

No slam on Exxon but 50M is nothing but merely a show - how much goes to the Red Cross itself and what’s left for the citizens with no place to go. NY still isn’t finished from Sandy’s devastation. Organizations come with ‘immediate help’ make a show and go and citizens are still in the same predicament with no place to live - and work in some instances.

Samaritan’s Purse is the way to go! They will make 50M into 100M with their highly trained volunteers and Samaritan’s own equipment.

DUH! with Exxon’s donation of 1/2 a million, not 50 million.

I’ve heard worse stories after 9-11, of them giving $ to fag bars, bathhouses etc nowhere near ground zero, just to placate the fags on their board who want to “share” and “get rid of all the cash” coming in as donations for victims and families. It made the papers, but disappeared down a rabbit hole pretty quickly. The RC’s CEO lives a life of luxury. I spit on the mgmt, not the workers.
