Capt B and Uncle Miltie have the big clue. The perp was being questioned in his own home, in his own kitchen. This is not what I would call a controlled environment. (We certainly can’t say what was in this guys kitchen, but I’ve got everything from sorta-dull steak knives to scalpel-sharp fillet knives.)
There is another account out today that declares the dead perp was about to sign a statement about his involvement about a triple murder in Boston a few years ago. This doesn’t make sense, SIGNING A MURDER CONFESSION IN THE PERPS OWN KITCHEN (apprarently un-handcuffed)!
I guess that is one reason there is a big step-back in the official accounting today. The declaration that the FBI agent was defending against a knife attack has now been muted. Hmmmmmm.
Hmmmmm.
Thanks for noticing. I smelled a rat from the very first posting of this story. It stinks.

This stinks of cover up.
If the FBI is questioning a suspect, they have so little control, they have to shoot?
Idiots. Incompetents. Or, Conspirators.

So lets get this straight: They have in front of them a known associate of a notorious terrorist who was involved in the murder of three people with a knife, and is a Mixed Martial Arts trained fighter, and somehow the FBI let him get ahold of a KNIFE!?!?
WHAT THE HECK?
