Many of the officers were off duty, and some had come off full night shifts. Those who couldnt make it attended a fundraiser that afternoon for Raetz and a firefighter who was killed the same weekend. I hope this didn't cost the taxpayers, for me there are more than just warm feelings resulting from these mass displays of strength and unity and raw mass, by the uniformed, armed, government, unionized, public servants who are becoming the most powerful political force in many of our cities, I feel a little discomfort.

Ditto.
But I think what you are trying to say has just flown completely over the heads of all who are caught up in the emotion of the moment.
Wonder how the other graduating kids, not members of the ruling class, felt?

Thank you! If it was this kid's high school graduation, I could buy it. But kindergarten "graduation"? Come on, who's kidding who? This had nothing to do with the kid.
