The point I was making was that the LDS church did an about face over the 13 years between the SCOTUS BSA v Dale (2000) case and the Mormon leadership's APR 2013 statement that it accepted the new membership resolution. All sources indicate that the LDS Church gave up on this issue after it was hammered for supporting Prop 8 in CA during 2008.

The Mormons have historically been able to maintain autonomy when it comes to summer camp operations as well as stake based activities.

They imagine they can continue to do so in the future. However, the loss of volunteers in the non-Mormon 70% of the organization will eventually give the entirity of the residual organization a Mormon flavor. I'd suppose that will give them total access to the 1/2 billion dollar asset base. No doubt they will like that.
