Boy Scouts' decision another casualty of moral compromise

GRAPEVINE, TX - Family Research Council (FRC) expressed deep disappointment at the Boy Scouts of America (BSA) for changing their long-standing position today on membership regarding open homosexuality within the Scouts.

Family Research Council President Tony Perkins made the following comments:

"Sadly, the Boy Scouts' legacy of producing great leaders has become yet another casualty of moral compromise. Unfortunately, Boy Scout delegates capitulated to strong-arm tactics and abandoned the timeless values that have served the organization well for more than 100 years.

"The delegates succumbed to a concerted and manipulative effort by the national BSA leadership despite the BSA's own survey showing 61 percent of its members in opposition to changing the policy.

I am a Scoutmaster. Our meeting was last night 5/23. I tended my resignation effective 12/31/2013, or sooner if the Troop Committee sees fit. Several Scouts including my two sons, one 6 months from Eagle and the other about 1 year away from Eagle, also said that they are leaving on that date. Several other Scouts will follow. This is a heart breaking day.

With this policy a Scout must choose between being true to the Scout Oath and Law as they are intended, or remain in Scouting. We choose the Oath and Law.

Soon to be former Scoutmaster
Troop 603

The ban on homosexual scout leaders will only last until the first gay scout turns 21 and asks to be a leader.

Pathetic cowardice. Morally bent is the truth. RIP BSA.

Yes. As soon as the first homo scout is old enough, he’ll demand to be a leader, and he will be a leader.

RIP BSA.

The Gay Lobby waited approximately 2 minutes before announcing that this was not good enough and they would continue to press for more.

This is what will happen from here on out:

The Gaystapo, construing this as a mandate to not just permit, but to PROMOTE open homosexual activism in the BSA, will now DEMAND to have a major hand in crafting the new regulations and policies in the organization, which they will be granted. There will be a homosexual "auxiliary" ensconced in the national organization that will never be dislodged.

A few naive national leaders with good intentions no doubt believed that this policy change meant that homosexuality would be rendered "not relevant" to consideration as a youth member. The way it will be cast is as overwhelming affirmation of the homosexual lifestyle.

Does everyone recognize that this "revised" proposal is actually WORSE than what was proposed earlier in the year? Instead of entire districts/councils deciding for themselves what membership criteria would be with regard to homosexuality, the homosexual acceptance policy is now incumbent on ALL scouting units, regardless of their wishes. How is that a "compromise?"

The problem is certainly with the older boy scouts ~ and particularly at summer camp!

The Mormons in this area are numerous enough that when all of their troops go to camp, they go together and there's nobody there who's not part of their church.

I assume they engage in the same exclusionary practice elsewhere, particularly where they are quite numerous.

When you have a large part of your organization (30% by many estimates) able to operate such that 'national policies' have no practical effect on the safety and security of their members, you'll get this sort of broad brush betrayal of original founding principles.

A solution might be to kick out the Mormons.

Boys don't make the decision in Boy Scouts ~ adult volunteers do. Without them there is no organization. The additional risk for participating in events with openly homosexual young boys is too much ~ you can't get insurance for what might happen.

Odds ~ what a term eh ~ are that the organization collapses into a frenzy of asset seizure within months, if not weeks. They have about half a bil according to the annual report. There are those who would like to acquire possession of those assets.

http://www.scouting.org/sitecore/content/MembershipStandards/Resolution/results.aspx

Make no mistake faggots will be Scout leaders very soon.
The wording in the statement from the BSA all but assures it will happen. Before the year is out the sell-out board of voting members will reconvene to vote on allowing faggot scout leaders and the result will be the same. This is a given.

“A change to the current membership policy for adult leaders was not under consideration; thus, the policy for adults remains in place. The BSA thanks all the national voting members who participated in this process and vote.

So the board and file members of the BSA DID NOT WANT to change the ban on homosexuals but the all-knowing members of the national council did. What a crock.

Boy Scouts needs a new National Council, and real quick needs to restrict membership to Christians. This multi-culti trans-religious business is not working out. The Court said 'do it' ~

Non Christians with an interest can create their own organization and set up foreign affiliations if they want ~ and some religious groups have already done that.

Right with you.
I was a cub, a boy scout (life) and an explorer.
I watch my son develop from a cub to an eagle and become a living example of the scout oath. I have held several positions in our troop for a lot of years.

I am resigning today.
This is so wrong on so many levels.

Time to rewrite the Boy Scout oath.

On my honor, I will do my best to do my duty to liberalism, then country, to flout the scout laws, to help other people when I feel like it, to keep myself physically primped, mentally challenged, and "morally obtuse".

To those of you in the Boy Scout Leadership, you should be ashamed of your decision. As a parent, I would remove my child from this organization, as its morals have been corrupted by societal demands.

As an Eagle Scout, I say "Damn You" for corrupting our youth. You're no longer the organization that I once cherished.

Ding, ding, ding... Yes, as usual, this is about the money. The full-time BSA staff voted to put the Scouts at risk and bring the whole Scouting organization to an end in order to keep their jobs for a short while longer and line their pockets with money. Despicable.

When I told my son, a First Class Scout, last night about this decision, he immediately said that he wanted to quit Scouting. When I asked him why, he told me that this decision did not fit with the “morally straight” ideal in the Scouting Oath. I agreed with him and we have both decided to resign from Scouting.

A pity, but I am hoping that this travesty will spur like-minded parents from across the nation to form a new group more in line with the original concept of the Boy Scouts and form an organization along those root principles.

The BSA just committed organizational suicide.

The radical gays sniffed out weakness and will be relentless on the BSA.

What is sick is that the BSA has in the past been very protective of boys with the YPT training and two deep leadership.

What’s the use of YPT now? (youth PROTECTION training)
pffft.

My letter to the Boy Scouts, sent this morning:

For the life of me, I cannot understand how the once great organization known as the Boy Scouts has caved on the homosexual issue. We parents are not fools, we know that this is the slippery slope to admitting openly gay leaders in the near future, thereby putting our children at risk. I am disgusted and seriously considering withdrawing my children and finding an alternative organization that shares the same values that I hold dear.

As far as I am concerned, the leaders of the Boy Scouts are nothing but a bunch of cowards who have absolutely no backbone whatsoever.

You should all be ashamed of yourselves.

Here is the link: http://www.scouting.org/ContactUs.aspx
Go ahead and let them know how you feel.
