Rubio Can't Defend His Own Immigration Bill By Stanley Kurtz May 25, 2013 1:47 PM Comments 4
Senator Marco Rubio appeared on a special edition of the Hannity show last night on behalf of the Gang of Eights immigration bill, otherwise known as Schumer-Rubio. His case for the bill was unpersuasive and, at times, incoherent. You can see substantial portions of the show in three online videos.
An example of the fundamental problem comes at around 9:309:50 into the first video, where Rubio responds to the claim that the border security provisions of the bill are too weak and too dependent on the actions of unwilling enforcers to be trusted. Heres my transcription of Rubios reply:
The problem is that people do not trust this administration and the federal government in general to do the law. So its pretty straightforward and I tell this to people all the time. If we can figure out a way to write a bill that ensures that the border will be secured, I believe immigration reform will happen. If we cannot do that or fail to do that, I do not believe immigration reform can or should happen. And so really, this issue at the end of the day is about getting that part of it right.
This was the first of several times in the broadcast that Rubio distanced himself from his own bill, refusing to defend its security provisions and at least appearing to claim instead that, as it stands at the moment, the bill is unsatisfactory and undeserving of support. Yet Rubio has been defending the bill far and wide, even appearing in an ad on its behalfan ad that touts the bills security provisions.

I should add, a lot of churches aren’t into this. The World Council of Churches bunch is fellow travelers with the Marxists.
I believe that’s the bunch. Someone correct me if I’ve morphed the group incorrectly.
Plus, paying a fine is very little in exchange for American citizenship being given to a person here illegally.
Unless someone thinks American citizenship is worth about $2,000. (Or “legal status” to stay here. It’s insulting).
The quote is from an English newspaper and as I understand it, it’s referring to Government Ministers not church Ministers. That said, you are completely correct about the World Council of Churches!
Schumer-Rubio.
McCain must be vibrating with rage that yet another sellout to the liberals doesn’t carry his name, like so many others.
It would not be the first time a conservative has been corrupted by DC.
Of course, if one is “open” to being corrupted, I guess it’s a much easier
pick by the DC vultures. Rubio seems ready and willing.
BTW, my belief is that Rubio’s presidential aspirations are done.
Oh I see. Thanks. I did miss that. Thanks for the note of agreement with regard to the WCoC.
That's a helluva insight!
The "comprehensive" immigration bill IS but a gesture -- not even the Democrats expect it to pass now. All they want it for is an issue -- to drive minority voting in 2014.
It rings the bell with certain voters. And probably doesn't move the dial with the low-information voter. The only people who are concerned with it are people who have studied the bill and understand the fundamental problem.
I would be with Rubio if the bill only gave illegals a work visa (with penalties for being here illegally) and never a pathetic to citizenship.
Stayed out of it....jeez this is what LaRaza Rubio has always been about. He is a slimy Cubano traitor now and always! Send his whiney azz back to Florida. Strip him of all assets and feed him to the gators!
Why Are Mexican Nationals Getting A “Pass?
In that May 3rd speech Obama gave before the Mexican Anthropological Museum in which he blamed America for the violence in Mexico I believe he went even futhur. Theres a inference but never referenced by name to the Gasden purchase and border settlements US made with Mexico where Obama hinted he seems to side with the Mexican claims. Would those in attendence share that view is a question that should be asked, because I believe they would,.he does.
The Mexicans have been getting most favorable treatment above the rest of our neighbors both north and south. Theyre permitted to cross our borders and enter illegally and are allowed access to rights of citizenship (with the exception of voting which if the democrat party regains control over the House will happen) other nationals entering this country dont get.
Also by allowing Mexicans to do this any quota ration for immigration from other south and central American countrys are taken up by Mexicans while that country is laying claim to a large chunk of our sovereign territory.
We are already seeing the result of this in certain areas claimed by the Mexicans. Their national flag (standard) gets displayed over ours. Where there is a controlling number of Mexican nationals (illegals). Its displayed over certain institutions particularly schools accompanied by riots and disturbances. Blacks are threatend by Mexicans in certain sections of citys in those areas. Were courting trouble by not placing a value on our sovereignty and our citizenship.
Worse yet if a US citizen goes into Mexico never mind illegaly but legally. Theyll get 2nd class treatment. Land ownership in title is prohibited period. And there are a slew of regulations they must comply with. Which doesnt apply to a citizen of Mexico.
By not insisting on reciprocity particularly on those who have entered this country illegally were offering no incentive for assimilation and were not easing the burden for our fellow citizens who for what ever reason decided to live in Mexico.
But I do know one thing,... if Schumer, Durbin, and Menendez are "for" it, that is more than enough reason for any sensible American who cares a whit for his country, his future, and his liberty to be "against" it.
Rubio has foolishly gotten into bed with the devil. He is just now beginning to figure out people who were his friends are beginning to look at him and think he just might be growing a set of horns.
Dupio is speaking out of both sides of his mouth. And the shilling he’s doing in the radio ads for leftist Zuckerberg is nothing but a pack of lies.
I’ve lost all respect for this guy.
Should've stayed out of it............He ran on "it". It's his "Dream Act"
He and his Chief of Staff are both open borders dimwits.
We all know Schumer is an idiot but when they're together on this, Rubio is the idiot in that picture.
