A public screening for Kanye West's music video New Slaves was shut down by police Friday night.
The rapper, who has been promoting screenings of the clip around the world via Twitter, was scheduled to unveil the visual for his controversial track at the Rothko Chapel in Houston, Texas at 9:45pm.
According to the Houston Chronicle, local authorities broke up a crowd that had gathered to see the video, threatening to arrest anyone who failed to comply for trespassing.

Why did the Houston Police stop the screening of the video? Was it the content alone? That tool can and will be used against us too. Obama and his fusion centers have already basically catagorized TEA as terrorist. The IRS targets TEA for supression.
The story at the link didn’t explain the why of this action. Was it some sort of needed permit for public performance situation thing?
I have no idea the stated reason, but I confess that when I saw his New “song” unveiled on NBC, I got the impression, it was encouraging his listeners/true believers to do harm to certain groups of people..

The reason was no permits, no permission, private property..

About 500 people gathered at the Alamo on Sunday night to see Kanye West’s new video, “New Slaves,” projected on the Texas shrine.
But it never happened.
San Antonio police officers said no permit for the projection had been issued, and that if someone attempted to set up a projector, it would quickly be put to a stop.
“We were never asked, and we were never told what was going to happen,” said Mark Loeffler, spokesperson for the Texas General Land Office, the Alamo’s caretaker. “It’s sad that people have such little respect for the Alamo.”
If it’s such an artistically great piece, why don’t they just premier the video by broadcasting it on Twitter instead of trying to project it on every public structure?
Agreed. Without an explanation of why, this report is pretty worthless. When I first read it outside this forum, I just assumed it was a piece put out by West's publicity team to gin up fake controversy and get free publicity for an otherwise unmarketable commodity.
West was probably told to move along for holding an unlicensed event, but leaving that extremely relevant part of the story out can only be intentional.

They are losing a low-profile race war to Hispanics (in the drug trade, the workplace, politically, and demographically); any hopes they have of fighting “whitey” are pipe dreams. By importing a new “preferred minority”, and encircling black enclaves with them, liberal whites have basically confined many blacks to urban “reservations”.
Blacks are winning over Hispanics in other ways. They have glommed onto far more Gov’t jobs especially Federal ones in in DC. We have a black (coffee colored) president and attorney general. Blacks are far more entrenched in politics than Hispanics who just got here (legal illegal immigration) and many don’t vote
Over the long haul though Hispanics will outnumber and prevail over blacks and become the number one minority. They also have higher birth rates and more immigrate here than do Africans

Hispanics passed blacks in 2000 (ten years earlier than projected, probably due to welfare reform - no more cash for additional kids - and immigration). In the NYC metro area an increasing number of political offices are held by Hispanics; here in NJ we have a Hispanic senator (and will probably never see a black one), and they are increasingly being hired (instead of blacks) in gubmint jobs and the private sector to fill minority quotas. The “outnumbering” already happened, and that is taking into consideration that anyone with any black blood counts as “black”. Heck, blacks are complaining about how few blacks remain in major league baseball; many of them are Hispanic (along the lines of Roberto Clemente, Sammy Sosa, etc.).
Well, seems to me the producers failed to get permits to show the video...That’s on them, for assuming they didn’t have to follow the rules and regulations...
Sure, West is entitled to express his views per the First Amendment...And many other productions have made their way to public showings...
This simply illustrates how ignorant the West organization really is, and why he tried to do this in Houston instead of say Detroit, NYC, L.A. or San Fransisco, is beyond me...
If they thought Houstonians would tolerate nonsens spilling out in the streets because some segment of the demographic makeup of this community decided to take their frustrations out into the streets...Theree would have been a huge miscalculation on their part assuming Houston would explode in the wrong way...
If they had had their act together then the video would have been shown, and rightfully so...
All works of fiction and discete are certainly free to do so in this country...It is the intended result that needs to be discovered...If West wanted to stir up something in this town, he should have played his cards smarter...
But, as usual, he fails...And that is on no one but him and his handlers...I mean “fools”...
What you say is absolutely true but over in DC, our new Imperial Rome, it is blacks who are the major minority in Federal jobs. In fact DC has a few VA and MD counties just outside that are jam full of the richest black communities in America. Black Federal workers. Blacks have been at the affirmative action game far longer than Hispanics and will bring their own people into the Federal jobs racket
Due to out of control affirmative action it gets more difficult all the time for non-gay white men to get on the Gov’t job gravy train. Hiring for those hive jobs slants female/minority/gay/black etc (speaking very generally)
I’m sure there are pockets, but there are not many US cities where Hispanics are not a rapidly-growing group. Here in NJ we’ve been laying off government workers for years due to budgetary constraints, and many of those laid off are the recently-hired affirmative action types (the Newark Star-Ledger had a picture of many of the 160 cops that were let go, and besides a few white guys that looked like former military, a lot of them looked like token hires). The private sector seems to be opting for Hispanic workers, and our consumer-driven economy is determined to sell things to their emerging middle class. Government hiring has slowed to a trickle, and cuts (in the postal workers, military, etc.) will hurt blacks precisely because they were in the game longer.
