Tea party groups mobilizing against Common Core education overhaul

Tea party groups over the past few weeks have suddenly and successfully pressured Republican governors to reassess their support for a rare bipartisan initiative backed by President Obama to overhaul the nation’s public schools. Activists have donned matching T-shirts and packed buses bound for state legislative hearing rooms in Harrisburg, Pa., grilled Georgia education officials at a local Republican Party breakfast and deluged Michigan lawmakers with phone calls urging opposition to the Common Core State Standards.

snip Critics also charge that Common Core was thrust onto schools with little public debate. The standards were developed by associations representing governors and school chiefs, underwritten by private funding and propelled by the Obama administration using federal grant money as an inducement. The standards were then approved by education boards rather than state legislatures, and some lawmakers sponsoring bills to rescind the program have said they had not heard of it until constituents alerted them in recent weeks. Nevertheless, many state lawmakers are being asked to approve funding to enact the standards, including tests and classroom materials. The national cost is estimated to reach the billions. snip

The opposition’s momentum was evident this week in Michigan, where Republican lawmakers moved toward delaying Common Core despite entreaties from former Florida governor Jeb Bush, a respected voice within the party on education and one of the most vocal GOP champions of the new standards. Bush, who is considering a run for president in 2016, defended Common Core during a closed-door lunch on Tuesday with state House Republicans in Lansing, then reiterated his arguments Wednesday in appearances with Snyder during a policy conference on Mackinac Island. “Do not pull back. Please do not pull back from high, lofty standards,” Bush said in a pleading tone. He described Common Core as a “clear and straightforward” strategy …..

Great news that the true implications of CC are seeing the light of day. The Tea Party is just getting warmed up!

As for Jeb - the jig is about up for you, just as with your buddy marco rubio. Best for you to go pump gas at some remote convenience store, and leave us Americans alone.

Bush defended Common Core...behind closed doors? What does that mean? I’m doing everything I can do avoid this federal intrusion...there will be step by step indoctrination as its implemented. Its bad news.

The left is so good at ‘Good Names’. Common Core sounds just what the schools need. I don’t know its contents but I kow that once it is enacted, they can change anything they like.

The best part is the considerable tea party power in Michigan and the RINOs are afraid of us.

It is a concerted effort between the right and left to train for the global workforce. This plan was started in the 80’s -

LOCAL SCHOOL BOARDS ARE BEING REPLACED, STRIPPED OF POWER
By Ann Herzer, M.A.

Part 1 - paragraph 2-4
The New American Schools Development Corporation’s radical design teams have been selected to “break the mold” away from basic-traditional education in order to train children for the global workforce. Privatizing education through Charter Schools allows these radical design teams, and other private entities such as The Edison Project, Educational Alternatives, Inc., and Disney World (Mickey Mouse Schools) to rob American citizens of their own tax-supported schools. This plan is being supported by both the right-wing and the left-wing political groups who appear to have met in the radical mid-center on education, social control and a global economy.

Dr. Shirley McCune appears with former Secretary of Education Lamar Alexander at the Kansas Governor’s Summit on Education in 1989. She made the following statement:

“…what we are into is a total restructuring of the society. What is happening in America today…is not simply a change4 situation and the usual winds of change. What it amounts to is a total transformation of our society…The whole ball game in this particular change society is that there are only two things that really matter. One of those is the information capitol that we can put together…Secondly, to produce Human Capital…we have to prepare students not for today’s society, but for a society that’s 20, 30, 40, 50 years down the road…That’s called Social Change Function of schools.”

Further down on the article:
This proposal may also be found in literature published by the United Nations. The World Conference on Education for All was held in Jomtien, Thailand, March 5-9, 1990.

On October 30 – November 1, 1991, in Alexandria, VA. The United States Coalition for Education for All met. The title for this meeting was Learning for All: Bridging Domestic and International Education. The purpose follows:

“The U. S. Coalition for Education for All is part of a 156-nation network working to reform education worldwide.

From part 2 - paragraph 2

The Center on Education Reform is listed as a resource on the list. The contact person is Jeanne Allen, formerly with the Heritage Foundation. (Ed. Note: Jeanne Allen still heads this group and is now showing up at meetings sponsored by The Excellence Foundation, headed by former Governor of Florida, Jeb Bush (brother to George W Bush, Jr.). They are now promoting “The Common Core Standards” and the performance-based test, aligned to the standards. The almost same identical legislation is appearing state by state and is in all probability written by the American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC) or The Council for Foreign Relations (CFR) who have now joined with the right political organizations trying to convince citizens that our country is in danger of collapse due to children not being trained for the global workforce). The conference at Arizona State University lists the following:
