Priebus: GOP 'Open for Repairs'

By Andrew Stiles June 2, 2013 10:03 AM Comments 0

Republican National Committee chairman Reince Priebus pushed back against former Senator Bob Dole’s (R., Kan.) recent remarks that Ronald Reagan “couldn’t have made it” in today’s GOP, and Dole’s suggestion that “they ought to put a sign on the national committee doors that say ‘closed for repairs’ until new year’s day next year.”

“I would say that we’re not closed for repairs, but we’re open for repairs,” Priebus said, noting the RNC’s post-election autopsy, the Growth and Opportunity Project, which was published earlier this year. “That’s the Republican Party that needs to grow, that needs to win presidential elections, and [it] needs to be a year round, permanent operation, which is what we’re building.”

He pointed out that the party’s problems were hardly a recent phenomenon, and that its last two (failed) presidential candidates, Mitt Romney and John McCain, seemed to undermine Dole’s suggestion that the GOP needed more moderates. “If we’re being honest about it, we haven’t decisively won in 24 years,” Priebus said. ”This is not something that suddenly happened, but it is something that the national party, the Republican Party, et al., have to address, which we did.”

Maybe the RNC would appreciate it if we dressed up like we were going to a Hugo Chavez rally, so people would know that we "support" the cause.

It's only at the national level that we are sucking eggs.

...and yet here in WV, a state that has not voted RAT for President since 1996, a state where not one county voted for Zer0 in 2012, the RATs rule. Of the seven state-wide offices, the GOP holds one (AG).

I'm thinkin' that sez a lot about the WV GOP.

The GOP needs to be supportive of a growing field of American jobs.

It is that simple.

US jobs = GOP wins elections.

Newt had it right in 1995...Senator Bob Dole was nothing but a “tax collector for the welfare state”.

That photo you posted says it all. WHY are they continually going after the Black vote, and ignoring the desires of the WHITE MAJORITY, especially middle and working class whites and Reagan Democrats who abandoned them in 2012 (4.5 MILLION of them)?

In sports, winners are rewarded.

In the Stupid Party, losing big is the highest distinction and the way to the top!

Good move. First order of business: fire Rancid Prius. Then fire Karl Rove.

Then officially kick out the RINOs in the republican party who align with democrats on nearly every issue (and those who attempt to disenfranchise tea party members and the religious right): McCain, Rove, Christie, Snow, Hatch, Powell, Collins, Steele, Priebus.

When republicans need support on extremely important issues, these turncoats are on the other side of the table, (literally) time and again.

Also, ignoring the support of people who helped win congressional house majority in 2010 is beyond stupidity.

One of the truest tests of integrity is its blunt refusal to be compromised.

The moment you start taking someone for granted is the moment you start losing them.

There is a REAL hunger in this nation for law and order.

We have national laws that have wide support but the government doesn’t enforce those laws, like those for immigration.

When middle-class people go to serve in Congress and leave two decades later millionaires, it is so obvious that the machinery of government has been corrupted that average folks don’t bother to vote. They believe they do not have influence on politicians as they have no money to influence the politicos. They are correct.

How is “We’ll give you stuff too, just not as much as they will” a winning strategy?

It isn't, of course, but the GOP-e rubes eat it up, and write huge checks to the consultants who give it to them. It's a great scam - the consultants laugh all the way to the bank.

Really, is there a difference? Have you heard any squawking from the States, especially when the Party holds the (re)election $$ carrot to parrot the line?

How about some good ‘ol cases, coming from the States, to argue against the Fed on the 9th/10th...just to begin. How about ‘incorporation’ (like that means a damn bit of difference when dealing with RIGHTS) for Constitutional carry? Hell, how about tossing some overreaching judges from the benches??

Sorry, but it’s dead, from the head all the way down. When one ‘equal branch’ pays for the others, just who’s going to rock the boat?

Seriously: where do you think he was during Benghazi?

1) Stop letting the other side define the debate as being about “tax cuts for the wealthy.”
2) Actually answer questions (with yes/no when possible) instead of rambling on and on to avoid actually answering the question. Those Americans who are paying attention are fed up with non-answers.
3) Understand that the “progressives” got to where they are by taking incremental steps over decades. They had to “compromise” bit by bit until they got all of what they wanted. You cannot simply send a person to congress and expect them to enact an agenda overnight. People who follow the “not a step backwards” philosophy look crazy to most undecided voters.
4) Realize that public education’s sole purpose is to create future democrat voters.
5) Realize that the GOP is debating Saul Alinsky radicals and not friends from the country club who just have a different opinion.

The GOP needs a new coat of paint called TEA. The GOP needs to put the Trash in the dumpster and haul it away: McDemocrat, Grahamnesty, Burkaowski, Colons, McConHole, and Boner would be a good start. Install Cruz and Gowdy as leaders. Ban porky pig Rove and his ilk from the premises.
