You are quite correct....the seeds for the Progressivism...were planted early in the last century....with TR in the GOP and Woodrow Wilson in the Democrat Party.....In 1913 three really bad things occurred which helped ruin our limited government Constitutional republic: 1) The creation of the Federal Reserve, 2) The implementation of the federal income tax, 3) the direct election of US Senators. But the federal government did really start going hog wild until the 1930s.
