a case being delayed is, in and of itself, not a crime. Happens all the time in fact.

That it "happens all the time", and for the reasons this was done should be a crime.

I look forward to the day a federal bureaucrat sets out to make an example of someone, and gets made an example of in return.

Regarding audits, 30% of the returns audited as recently as 2011 (for 2010 taxes) targeted those claiming EITC.

That's the bottom of the income ladder for people who make enough to pay income taxes.

Congress has dictated that the system run by targeting broad categories of taxpayers. The folks working inside the system know that's how it works, so why would they be surprised to find IRS targeting some other group?

BTW, I"ve been bringing this up for years ~ that IRS is required by Congress to target people and most of the targeting is uproductive. Seriously, how much more money you going to get out of the working poor by auditing them at a rate 30 times normal? Why doesn't Congress devote those resources to the rich who are only audited at a rate 9 times normal?

IRS is a pretty expensive place ~ by design. People must be crazy to work there.

Sirica worked for the Establishment. So far no one has come up with a crime and a perp that he’d be interested in anyway.

How? You do know that once you get your exemption you refile your taxes, and these 501(c)4 operations are only talking about exposure on 10% of the funds they receive that they might not spend in the same tax year.

Those who got approved eventually didn't get hurt in terms of taxation.

Remember, these guys were asking for exemption from federal income taxes ~ I'd like that myself. How long you think my application will take to get approved?

A lot of people do that. I always kept what I called a ‘red file’. When I left the company it went with me.

Hmm ~ I see you've never worked in an organization that gets hundreds of thousands of requests for special treatment every year ~ and with limited staff.

You do know taxpayer money goes into dealing with those inquiries. Who should get answered first ~ the guy who sent his application first, or the guy who needs an answer first? ~ ha, ha ~ it's not that simple is it.

We are dealing with something called ADMINISTRATIVE DUE PROCESS which is different than JUDICIAL PROCESS. Sometimes answers are never given ~ but you are free to take it to court. The first thing the judge will decide is how long is long enough. Good luck.

No, I haven't. And I challenge the notion that making people live under a system that makes them dependent on any such organization qualifies as "civilaztion".

The question is does the other side even really care?

Are they Americans or are they ...something else?

Emails of top Obama appointees remain a mystery

The scope of using the secret accounts across government remains a mystery: Most U.S. agencies have failed to turn over lists of political appointees' email addresses, which the AP sought under the Freedom of Information Act more than three months ago. The Labor Department initially asked the AP to pay more than $1 million for its email addresses.

They're using secret e-mail addresses to do their dirty work. If they can find those secret e-mails, they can find it all.

Emanuel was appointed as director of the finance committee for Bill Clinton's 1992 presidential campaign. In 1993, he joined the Clinton administration, where he served as the Assistant to the President for Political Affairs and as the Senior Advisor to the President for Policy and Strategy before resigning in 1998. wikepedia

Rahm Emanuel Tightens Grip On Treasury Department / Reported by WSJ / 05/31/09

On Jan. 20, 2009 Timothy Geithner took over as Obama's Secy of the Treasury. Within three weeks, the obama White House tightened its grip by putting Obama's COS--Rahm Emanuel in charge of Treasury---an unusual move.

Since then, White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel has been so involved in the workings of the Treasury that the phrase "Rahm wants it" has become an unofficial mantra among some govt staff employed at the Treasury, according to government officials..

Liz - you've found the connection. The vast right wing conspiracy and the IRS thing have the same well spring... always seemed there was a Clinton connection. Great find.

Those schmucks are the ones who wrote to the IRS using the power of their office to start these investigations against their opponents.

They abused their office and should be removed from those offices.

Just as Harry Reid is abusing his office.

That way no one person has so much knowledge or control of the system that he can 'divert' resources or 'custom design' answers of benefit to people who would pay for that to happen.

However, that is exactly what happened, is it not ?

” (b) Obama placed his COS Rahm Emanuel in control of the US Dept of the Treasury (the IRS).

MEMORIES ARE MADE OF THIS:

Obama said “Tea Parties were a threat to democracy.”

Valerie Jarrett said they “would not forget” which Americans did not worship Obama. “

Thanks for the connection, Liz. Now I see it.
