Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius rebuffed an appeal from Rep. Lou Barletta, R-Pa., on behalf of a girl who needs a lung transplant but can’t get one because of a federal regulation that prevents her from qualifying for a transplant. …
“I would suggest, sir, that, again, this is an incredibly agonizing situation where someone lives and someone dies,” Sebelius replied. “The medical evidence and the transplant doctors who are making the rule—and have had the rule in place since 2005 making a delineation between pediatric and adult lungs, because lungs are different than other organs—that it’s based on the survivability [chances].” …

I don’t want the govt involved with this decision. It should be a medical decision.
In another era, Sebelius would have been in charge of a Nazi death camp or of a Soviet gulag.
She has a cold, harsh, I-know-better-than-you apparatchik attitude about her.
She is the American version of the murderers who ran those camps.
We should all be on the LAWN of the WH right now. With tars, feathers, and a noose.
She showed them how those death panels are supposed to operate ... rules are rules, except for the exalted.
Hold on a minute. If this young girl is getting the lungs, who is?
I am eager to jump and point as proof. But is there some good medical sense behind the decision or are they throwing the lungs in the trash because of a rule?
There must be more to the story.

Coz, y’know... The relationship between a doctor and a patient is a sacred right that shouldn’t be infringed upon by government...
Unless it depowers Obamacare...
This highlights the fact that government officials should not be in the business of making such regulations about life or death.
The lack of suitable organs for transplant will do so.
Also just because someone is at the front of the line for the next available transplant, does not imply that individual will receive said organ.
The organ and recipient much be an acceptable match first.
If this young child was a better match than anyone higher on the list for the available organ; the child should receive it.

Well how about this, you ass, the chances of this girl surviving without a transplant are...ZERO!
Good God in Heaven, what a monster such people are. Trying to throw all of this illogic at us and just have it be accepted.
I am willing to bet if it were her ten year-old daughter, or grand-daughter, the rule would be waived somehow...bercaue, you know, they are the "beautiful" people, who are meant to rule over us.
This attitude is going to catch up with these people in psades some day. As far as I am concerned, the sooner the better.
If she were pregnant, Planned Parenthood would just “take care of it” without appropriate parental notifications. The only decision females can make without govt intrusion under obamacare is a decision for abortion and contraception. All health care decisions will be based on federal rules and regulations. Republicans have never called out obama for his repeated lies that obamacare strengthens a woman’s ability to make health care decisions without interference between her and her physician. Obamacare actually demolishes the “right to privacy” established by Roe by inserting the feds into nearly every aspect of healthcare. But no one calls him out for it. And so far, I don’t think anyone has challenged it in court on that basis.
Well, now that San Fran Nan has passed the bill, we see what’s in it.
Prayers to the girl and her family, and try to avoid the bus you are about to be thrown under.
