A misdemeanor is more reasonable. I can see how that makes sense, some people go out of there way to give cops grief.
I think they could make this a law but the cops should agree to wear badge cameras at all times.
They are already doing this in some places and it is very effective in dissuading people from harassing cops and from keeping cops from abusing their authority.
If they [cops will let me alone, I will be more than happy never to come near one of them again.
