So both the political right and the political left are horrified by this intrusion. What congressmen and senators are going to create laws to reverse it? If nothing else, write the bill and get a recorded up or down vote on it, so we can see what senators and congressmen are in favor of spying on the American people.
That would be interesting.
Eric Holder was asked at a Senate hearing if the DOJ was monitoring phones of members of Congress. Holder obfuscated--- saying that he'd be glad to answer in the "appropriate forum."
The Senator who asked the question, Kirk (R-Il), responded, "The correct answer would be to say, 'No, we stayed within our lane, and I am assuring you we did not spy on members of Congress.'"
Holder could also have replied that any monitoring of phones in the Capitol could be done only in certain cases--such as evidence of treason---and that the DOJ is compelled to inform members of Congress.
Holder did not do that.
Clearly the DOJ did monitor phones used by members of Congress. If such monitoring hadn't occurred, then Holder could have just said "no."
