House Votes To Stop DHS From New Ammo Purchase Contracts

Over the past year and a half, the Department of Homeland Security has put forth solicitations for nearly 2 billion rounds of various ammunition over the next few years. Last Wednesday, the House of Representatives voted to stop DHS from entering into new contracts for purchases of millions more rounds of ammunition until they provide reports to the Congress on the cost and need for ammunition.

“Given this large purchase, the American people and members of Congress rightfully had concerns and questions,” said Representative Mark Meadows (R-NC), who proposed an amendment to the DHS spending bill for 2014 that would require that they submit a report to Congress before following through with their plans to purchase 1.1 billion rounds of ammunition.

Rep. John Carter (R-Texas) said the amendment was unnecessary based on his talks with DHS officials. Carter said the department has since admitted that its ammunition needs are not as great as first reported, and said the department is pursuing a bulk purchase to keep the costs down.

The Meadows language passed late Wednesday night in a 234-192 vote.

In the U.S. Senate, Jim Inhofe (R-OK), introduced a measure called the AMMO (Ammunition Management for More Obtainability) Act. The Ammo Act would make the Government Accountability Office (GAO) report on what he believes is a strategic ammunition hoarding by the Obama administration.

Inhofe believes the Obama administration will do anything to push its gun control agenda and back in April, he told Laura Ingraham “We just denied everything that this president and the vice president are trying to do. So what are they going to do if they want to, if they want to violate our Second Amendment rights? Do it with ammo.”

With govey contracts being fulfilled, your efforts are fruitless. It needs to be some time after the govey contracts are done—then the boycott will gain attention.

Don’t sweat it. For every 20 billion rounds of ammo they buy, panicky American gun owners buy 100 billion.

Here is a transcript of my local county legislator speaking about these alarming ammo purchases.

It is suggested:

“Trust the government”

And I say, WHY? The biggest massacre of school children didn’t happen back in CT. It happened in 1893(1890) in a place called Wounded Knee where hundreds of Native American children, women, a few men, were massacred by...’the government’.

The Japanese who were interned by executive order by FDR and were interned by . . .’the government’.

In a little town in Texas, back in the 90’s, called Waco, I think some 70 something children were killed there, by . . .’the government’.

Now we fast forward to the year 2013 when we have the attorney general of the US, the CIA person, telling me it’s ok to kill Americans on American soil in this country, with drone strikes, [by government decree].

That’s scary.

And anybody who isn’t scared by that is out of their mind.

We have a Homeland [Security] Dept., a Social Security Dept., the IRS and every [government] dept. buying millions of rounds of hollow point ammunition. I believe it’s up to eight for every living American now.

That scares me.

Homeland [Security] Dept. just purchased 10,000 AR 15’s. Well, they don’t guard the borders. What are they doing?

That scares me.

And that’s the government. [snip]

They just bought 3,000 armored vehicles. They’re not on the borders. What are they preparing for?

And you’re worried about me, owning my weapons -that I’ve never used illegally? That I’m a law abiding [citizen], that I have all my permits and everything?

Why aren’t you worried about the government?

Your greatest fear should be from them and not from any person in this room or a law abiding citizen. And God, if you can’t see that, I don’t know what you’re doing.
