WASHINGTON, June 11, 2013 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- On Monday, July 15th the Black American Leadership Alliance (BALA) will host a march and rally on the National Mall called the DC March for Jobs. The purpose of the march is to oppose all forms of amnesty, to protect American jobs for American workers. The BALA and participants will march to the steps of the Capitol to petition Congress, the Gang of Eight and the Congressional Black Caucus, demanding that they protect black labor by opposing amnesty and halting efforts to double legal immigration levels, as required under the bill.

The U.S. Commission on Civil Rights recently reported that illegal immigration has kept wages and employment down over recent decades, particularly among black men. With unemployment for blacks at nearly double the national rate (13.7%), the number of African Americans living in poverty and without jobs is sure to soar should the bill be passed.

"Now is not the time for Congress to increase competition for scarce jobs by adding millions more workers through legalization," said Frank Morris, Alliance leader, and former Executive Director of the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation. "Increasing immigration levels through amnesty and new visa programs, particularly at the low skilled level, will flood the labor market with millions more people, leading to higher unemployment, more poverty, and a lower standard of living for many in the black community." ......

Members of the Coalition include:

Frank Morris, Former Executive Director, Congressional Black Caucus Foundation; Reverend Jesse Lee Peterson, President and Founder of BOND (The Brotherhood Organization of A New Destiny); Bishop Felton Smith, Prelate of the Tennessee Eastern First Jurisdiction and Senior Pastor of New Covenant Fellowship Church of God in Christ in Nashville, TN; Charles Butler, Veteran Chicago area Talk Show Host of The Take with Charles Butler; Leah V. Durant, Former US DOJ Immigration Attorney and Executive Director, Progressives for Immigration Reform; T. W. Fair, President and CEO, Urban League of Greater Miami; Vernon Robinson, Former Council Member, Winston-Salem, NC and former candidate for US Congressional Office; Kevin Jackson, Radio Host and Executive Director, The Black Sphere; Leo Alexander, Broadcaster, Writer and Political Commentator, Washington, DC; Kevin Martin, Author, Writer and Political Commentator; Tom Broadwater, National Chair, Americans4Work.

I woulld say that they still view obama as their messiah. Their problem with amnesty[in their view] Mexicans is that for every welfare dollar the Mexicans get, is a dollar they don’t get. At least that is the feeling in the neck of the woods where I am from. And another bone of contention is that the Mexicans stand up to the Black hoodlums. They are not coewd like the Whites.

“Reverend Jesse Lee Peterson”.... that one name brings credibility to this group/effort. I see Peterson as a very remarkable man.

I wish them well.

Given that 95% of black Americans voted for Obama (twice) this group is either a highly self-selected statistical anomaly, or they did indeed view Obama as their Messiah - and not very long ago, either.

Although many of them are conservatives, the members of the alliance span the political spectrum. The Rubio-Schumer bill will hurt all Americans. It not only gives legal status and work permits to 9 million illegal aliens, it also almost doubles the guest worker program, which will hurt skilled and unskilled workers.

We should be supporting this march because it is in our self-interest to do so. Demeaning or demonizing those marching should not be the focus, but rather, the emphasis should be on what the objective of the march is, i.e., to defeat the Rubio-Schumer bill.

And the 11 million or more illegal aliens who are legalized can sponsor up to 20 million of their family members who will join them thru chain migration, i.e., family reunification.

The 2007 bill was defeated in part due to widespread concerns over the increase in the number of guest workers. While the sponsors of S.744 have suggested that this bill more responsibly manages the number of guest workers than the rejected 2007 proposal, it allows for dramatically more guest workers than the 2007 plan did. Such a large number by definition will displace American workers and the chronically unemployed. It will also reduce job opportunities for legal immigrants. By any measure, S.744 is worse for workers, at a worse time, than previous attempts at comprehensive reform. As Senator Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) recently put it in an interview, "This is a massive effort to attract cheap labor, a great disservice to American workers."

In addition to expanding the controversial H-1B program, known for its association with overseas-based body shops and also a 20 percent fraud and non-compliance rate, the Schumer-Rubio bill adds several new guest worker programs. For instance, it creates a new H-1B-style visa for workers from countries that have a free trade agreement with the United States, offering 5,000 visas to each of more than 30 countries. This provision could add 155,000 new guest workers each year, which is greater than the current H-1B program. Farm worker visas would more than double under the plan, and a new visa for unskilled workers would bring in at least 20,000 per year.

Since the Tea Party can’t seem to get a permit for their rally in the Capitol, maybe they should join this group who most likely had no problem. We’re all Americans and on this issue we agree. : )

Once amnesty passes, the amnestied will immediately be eligible for affirmative action government jobs in competition with blacks.

We are on the Hill getting Congressmen to march with us. Mo Brooks of Missouri is the first one who has agreed to do so.

Is there any data that shows a direct link between the increase in illegal immigration and the increase in Black unemployment? If there is, a graph would make a great visual.

This is no laughing matter.

To those sitting in their ivory towers in DC, it is. It's all just so much noise from the serfs.

I wish you luck, but the fact is 98% of our pols are simply bedazzled and enthralled with opening the Mexican floodgates. They couldn't care less what it means to American citizens "in the trenches". They see themselves as benevolent equalizers and warriors for social justice. Narcissistic traitors, everyone of them.

It's kind of surprising we haven't heard more from groups like this about the chilling effect of illegal immigration/amnesty on the job market. Is it any wonder the job outlook for young black men is so dismal?

We stand with these brave black men and women...
