OF COURSE racist language and attitudes are not good....let us apply it EVENLY, though, what do you say?
That’s what I would have said
“Oh yeah, all the time....when I am singing rap songs. ‘Black and yellow, black and yellow. Black stripe, yellow paint, them *****s scared of but them ho’s ain’t’ Don’t know it? How about ‘Everybody know me. I’m the same little ***** taught your brother to smoke’”
and the problem is?? Oh yeh...our justice system!!
Silly white-boy, urban ghetto blacks CAN’T be racist. Only YOU can be racist.
I don’t think anyone should be using the term, but if Blacks want to I’m not going to take them to task for it. I think it’s idiotic, but what the hey. They’re not using in the pejorative sense, putting each other down or denigrating each other by doing it. I just think it’s a word I’d never use.
When Whites use it, it is different. We may not like facing that, but it is.
That Deen would actually use this term completely destroys any respect I could have for the woman. The word is so racially charged, and the use is so offensive, it conveys an unacceptable mindset when a person uses it.
Too bad she didn’t use the word “retard”. She would have been given a pass.
It would be funny if she said, “Yes, as is true with many Americans, regardless of race, I said the word “ni@@er”, which is protected by the first ammendment.
Thanks for asking.”
Evidently, the only word that is not offensive to them, is “FREE”.
At least Paula Deen is an honest racist. lol. I can’t say if her intentions were cruel or racist but what was the point in the first place ? Of course the meaning changes coming from an old white southern lady.
Oh no, she said a word which blacks use against each other about 20 times ad day, Hell I’ve been called one too off a black person at my old work.
Sticks and stones might break my bones but words will never hurt me.
Remember that statement alas no more, we have a population which plays the race , card, the queer, card, the victim card because they’re weak and looking for a quick handout
I grew up in Savannah, GA, not very far from where Paula Deen grew up, in the 1950s and 1960s. EVERYONE used the word, including blacks themselves. I get that blacks don’t like the word and try not to use it but if you grew up in the Deep South in that time period it was in common usage. People are going to make mistakes and I’m sure this was a case of her not censoring herself in time. My parents were transplanted Yankees and half my father’s employees were black so I didn’t get the racist thing. Some of those guys who worked for my dad were friends with him, and me, until his or their deaths. I really hope this doesn’t hurt her career too much. And yeah it really gripes me that they still regularly use the term to describe each other bur want to lynch a white person who uses it.
If you ever uttered the words; DAGO, GREASER, WOP, MOBSTER, MAFIA, WISEGUYS, GINNIE’S, et al, etc.. Don’t talk to me ever again unless you apologize.. My children and grown grandkids won’t be calling anytime soon, I’ve been told.. :)
When you outlaw a person’s words, you control them. Coming soon the outlaw words... Freedom, Patriot, Tea Party, Constitution,
and Founding Fathers.
Last night when I saw another thread on this, my first thought was if she was black, she wouldn’t have even been sued, and this wouldn’t be news. Double standards.
That said, I still use words in private that I would never use in public, like 'homo', 'queer' and 'faggot'.
When only whites are banned the use of a word...when only whites get punished, their reputations ruined, their TV shows taken off the air, forced to apologize, forced to go to sensitivity training, whatever, for saying a word, then where does it lead? White people’s freedom of speech is being taken away. We need to be defiant about this and demand our freedom of speech, refusing to apologize. We need to defend people like Paula Deen instead of turning on her. We need to take a stand.
Money grab!
