My grandmother had a dear friend who did the same thing. She was pulled over on I-70 about 60 miles east of Denver for being in the left lane and driving very slowly. She told the cop she needed to be in the lane, because she was going to turn left when she got to Denver.
"I knew I shoulda taken that left turn at Albuquerque."
