Sadly many schools no longer teach cursive.

I can understand why too.. I have little hand writing in my life I print notes and key everything that any one else will need to read.

But the fact that at one time it seems the witness claimed to have written but can not have done so says a lot about the case

Cursive should still be taught, as a history elective where it now belongs.
It is needed to read archival information. Little else. It certainly has no place in today’s business world.
