Trayvon Martin’s Stepmother Speaks Out: I Don’t Think Zimmerman ‘Picked Him Out Because He Was Black’

Alicia Stanley, Trayvon Martin‘s stepmother, sat down last night for an emotional interview with Anderson Cooper. Stanley opened up about the 14 years she spent raising Martin with his father and how it’s been hard for her to watch George Zimmerman‘s trial and hear all the things people have been saying about the night that her son died. She told Cooper that while she is convinced of Zimmerman’s guilt, she does not personally believe that he picked her son out because he was black.

She became emotional again when talking about losing a child she raised for most of his life, and described how painful it was to not be able to sit in the front row at Martin’s funeral. She told Cooper that it would be “heartbreaking” and “unbelievable” if Zimmerman is found not guilty.

Absolutely- here’s how it ‘probably’ went down-

George saw trsayvon, then noticed the kid actign a bit strange, so he slowed doqwn a bit to get a good look- just feeling liek soemthign wasn’t quite right with hte kid

Martin saw george slow down and take a good look at him- and thought “That $%%^%^ queer- what the hell does he want? Go %$%^ yourself cracka” as msot young kids will say

George drives by, martin keeps walking, talking to Jenteal- martin probably said ‘some queer is checking me out- jenteal probably laughs which pisses martin off more- martin walks ion, george comes up behind him again-

martin is now really pissed that a ‘queer’ might be checkign him out and he thinks in his mind “I’ll teach that homo a lesson’, but martin doesn’t have the coward’s advantage yet, so he ‘dissappears’ but keeps an eye on george as george walks to find out what street he’s on

martin circles around, his blood boiling at htis point- and comes out of a ‘dark alley’ (darker than the walkway anyways where george didn’t see him, and aggressivelty cotfronts george with intent to murder so that trasyvon can gain soem ‘street cred’ i n the hood

But of course thsi is all conjecture- but most likely is what actualyl happened-

And you might be right. I’m giving her the benefit of the doubt, assuming a certain amount of sincerity.

I think her distress is real. And she at least appears sincere. But ultimately, whatever else may be going on in her mind is impossible for anyone to know except her.

And if she’s like a lot of people, she may not even be aware of all that’s going on in her head.

If he said it once, he said it 57 times...."The whole thing (the shooting) is just a 'misunderstanding' " He repeated "misunderstanding" over and over and over.

He thinks he knows all about the trial, but he knows nothing....he doesn't watch it all day like a lot of us do........and he keeps interjecting with idiotic observations when his guests are talking.

I do think Zimmerman was more suspicious of Martin because Martin was a young, black male. Young black men raise suspicion because they commit a grossly disproportionate amount of crime. They are far-and-away the league leaders in crime. Even Jesse Jackson has acknowledged being apprehensive of unknown black teens at night. Add the fact that Zimmerman was aware of a slew of recent break-ins in that neighborhood allegedly perpetrated by young black males, and it's logical that a young black male walking at night wearing a hoodie would raise suspicion.

If black men don't want to be profiled then they should implore their brothers for committing so much crime rather than yelling at people for noticing the obvious.

The additional calls made by the ZMan were played in Court and each time the 911 Dispatch/ or Non Emergency # operator asked the question the same way each time. On Comedy News Network the female talking head said he always said black. She missed the fact the last one played ZMan actually said “Caucasian”!

The defenses problem in all of this is that it was Zimmermans actions that started the entire situation going. There is no doubt about this and it plays very well politically and emotionally and might be what sways the jury.

I don’t see your point that Zimmerman started it. Martin was wandering around looking at houses, very likely to rob. (It would be interesting to know if the rash of burgerlies stopped or went down after Martin bit the dust, btw.) From what I’ve read, Martin already didn’t like Zimmerman and was possibly looking around wanting to beat the crap out of him. The entire thing was 100% Martin’s doing and fault. If Martin was looking for Z-man to inflict harm, as I suspect was the case; then sooner or later he would have found Z-man - if not that night, another night.

If Zimmerman had not not checked on Martin, none of this would have happened. Thats what I mean when I say Zimmermans actions started everything. I did not say Zimmerman had no reason to do what he did. I simply said that what Zimmerman did is what started the train rolling.

An argument is most easily won when you can concede every point your opponent makes and still beat him with your own sound logic. I believe that I’ve conceded everything the Trayvon Martin supporters claim and have still won the argument!!!
