That "gated community" is an apartment complex; a dive that had recently suffered a rash of burglaries. Hence, the "neighborhood watch" volunteers.
Bottom line: A happy little black kid was laughing and skipping his way home from the 7-11 with a bag of candy when he was stalked and gunned down in cold blood by a racist, white, redneck, wannabe cop.
Or...
A strong, 6' thug in a hoodie had just scored two of the ingredients he needed to brew up a batch of "lean" and was casing neighborhood residences for open bathroom windows looking for the final ingredient, Robitussin with codeine, when he noticed his suspicious behavior was being observed by an Hispanic volunteer neighborhood patrolman. Rather than proceed directly back to the apartment unit he came from, the thug took a circuitous route and doubled back to coldcock the neighborhood patrolman, slam him to the ground, and reign blows down upon him until he ended up getting shot in self defense.
I'm having a bit of trouble with this whole "lean" issue. I was under the impression OTC cough syrup hasn't had codeine since the early '60's. I've read about the ingredients of "lean," but where's the readily available codeine cough syrup? That stuff's been a controlled substance for as long as I can remember.
