I've been honing this vanity for a week to post on FR "someday." Saw Jim Robinson's post about Palin hinting at third party with Mark Levin ... and realized "someday" was today. I hope Palin and Levin see it.

Progressivism is the enemy. Liberalism is just a nice-sounding euphemism. By allowing the progs to define themselves as liberals allows them to act “nice” by asking us if we want handicapped people to starve.

Progressivism is about “progressing” to the next level of humanity through Marxism. It is humanity without faith in the true God pursuing some ideal that cannot exist without God, so they demand that people deify the state and the 20th century has already shown us that catastrophe ensues when people elevate the state to that level.

you might want to reconsider something Finny ... both parties consider Conservatives as being the enemy.

Well, I’m glad you worked so hard and posted this. I wish, however, we would move away from calling the Left “liberals.” Liberal means lover of liberty, which they are not. We need to call them what they are: socialists. Just like we need to call public schools what they are: government schools.

——The Democrat party is NOT the enemy. Liberalism is the enemy.-——

Pretty hard to tell the difference....the democrat party embraces liberalism..as long as they do in defference to american values...they are the enemy. ...

Really enjoyed this post. I am one of those that doesn’t buy into “America leans Right”. It doesn’t anymore. It is lurching Left. Issue after issue idiot American favor the Libtard approach.

But I do agree with you I hope Palin and Levin see it.

There are not two major parties. There is one Central Party. It has wings, of course.

Whichever candidate from the Central Party wins, the government grows, freedom shrinks, Constitutional Rights are destroyed.

After The Bush Presidencies...

Do you have more freedom or less?
More liberty or less?
Are you more secure in your property or less?
More secure in your Constitutional Rights or less?
Is government larger and more intrusive, or smaller and less intrusive?

RINOs are Dead to me!

Rubio, Ryan, Bush, and every other Central Party Big Government, anti-liberty, business-as-usual candidate - all dead to me. Weasels all.

Gone Galt. Gone international, Gone private. Gone.

The answer is libertarianism. And, yes I am a libertarian and have been for a long time. Unfortunately, I end up voting Republican most of the time, thinking that they are the lesser of 2 evils. I learned better

From the Bob Dole election cycle on, I have not and will not vote for any candidate who does not espouse my beliefs. Not even for dogcatcher.

Get a candidate who could possibly win.

If your conservative candidate could win the Republican nomination and possibly the general election, he or she will find a lot of support.

But if it's just some placeholder -- Alan Keyes, Virgil Goode, Chuck Baldwin, Michael Peroutka, Michael Badnarik, Howard Phillips, Harry Browne, Bob Barr -- nobody's going to bother.

good post. the GOP-e will next begin in ernest to destroy “established” conservative opposition in their own party at the “red state” and local levels. there really is no choice. we must begin to transfer our existing conservative local power to a true conservative party.

I think now is as good as it’s ever going to get as far as timing. Hillary is inevitable. Might as well get a real third party going. Only problem is, will it be a libertarian third party or a Christian conservative third party?

It takes a long time.
This is what has happened here in Canada over the last 27 years.

First came the Reform Party. http://www.thecanadianencyclopedia.com/articles/reform-party-of-canada

Then we talked a lot about “Uniting the right”, and they formed the Canadian Alliance.
http://www.thecanadianencyclopedia.com/articles/canadian-alliance

Which became the Conservative Party headed by Stephen Harper.
http://www.conservative.ca/
It is nowhere near as conservative as I would prefer, but it’s way ahead of whatever is in second place.

"The Democrat party is NOT the enemy. Liberalism is the enemy."

First things first, Finny .. glad you posted this.

That said, I'll need a bit of convincing to take the above at full face value. The reason for this is that there is no longer any such thing as a moderate Democrat. Liberalism, socialism and, in fact Communism, are indeed the enemy but they are the heart and soul of today's Democrat Party. I can't differentiate between them.

That said, you're on point and on message, as always, with the rest of your piece. I hope you're well.

Sorry, but ones does not get to redefine Liberalism (liberty) while complaining about the bastardization of ‘marriage’.

The enemy, if there is just one, is the belief one is knowledgeable more than their fellow Citizen to utilize the force of gov’t to make others live, for the betterment of one/all.

That comes from BOTH parties....SS, War on Drugs, War on Poverty, Welfare, etc. It is the antithesis of Freedom/Liberty and repugnant to our Constitution.

Finny, I’m of the opinion that our traditional civil institutions are broken and corrupted beyond all recognition. I’m not so sure that even forming a majority third party would do the people any good at this point. The powers that be are going to subvert the system to whatever degree is necessary, in order to hold onto power.

I’d really like to believe that we can still ‘vote them out’, but after studying the last two elections carefully, I’m almost convinced that it’s no longer possible.

There’s also the ‘fourth branch’ of government to be considered. We can’t just vote them out, no matter how big a majority we bring to the polls. I’m talking about the unelected bureaucratic branch of our government, of course. That branch has grown bigger than the other three combined, and has now usurped their constitutional authorities.

That is what hamstrung the one true conservative President we’ve had in our lifetimes. Unless the next patriot to hold that office understands that fully, and makes it their first order of business to demolish 90% of that branch (and to root out every left-wing Commie in it), we’re not going to move this country a single inch back toward its constitutional moorings.

As I hinted above, I’m beginning to believe that the states and the people are now faced with having to exercise their true power over the federal leviathan. How we’ll go about that, is another conversation, but I honestly feel that we’re nearing a point (or perhaps have even passed the point) where there really is no other option.

I will say this, though. I am completely finished giving my precious vote to anyone who I don’t consider to be a 100% pro-America patriot. I will not vote for the ‘lesser of two evils’ again, no matter how loud the catcalls and predictions of doom might be.

We’ve rewarded the establishment GOP with our votes when they gave us liberals to vote for, and what did they do? Why they gave us even more liberals to vote for. The one behavior reinforces the other, so I’m done contributing to that despicable degradation of the Republican party.

I am sooooo glad that Palin made the threat openly. Timing was right, and she doesn’t say stuff just to hear her own voice. That was a shot across the bow, if there ever was one! I say AMEN! These republicans with their finger to the wind, trying to see which way things are going might as well vote whatever. Let the chips fall. I am so tired of their flip-flopping nonsense and their vows to do this one day and that another. At this point, since we’ve let them know what we, the people, want, if they vote against our will then we know where we stand with one another! Really, that is what we want. A CLEAR picture of who they are and what they stand for. It is much easier to make a decision about them when they are not consistent. To be honest, the ones who say one thing, then do another because of pressure only, are the most worrisome, as you don’t really know what kinds of deals they are doing that you don’t know about.

Well done, Finny! Perfectly stated, IMHO. I would only add that the democrats rejected God at their 2012 convention which was a historical first.

I often find myself pondering and even ask God while I’m praying, “what do You think when these politicians of ours who support, endorse and campaign for abortion say ‘God bless America’?”

What must He think when so many in His flock labor and try to live His word, only to be subjected to government tyranny in all levels of government, right down to our godless public schools? ‘God bless America’?

The GOP is the Stupid Party. They rarely, if ever, get the narrative right -— constantly ceding to the democrats. Of course, having the news media on one’s side has always been helpful to the democrats.

Right now, I’m praying we’ll have a Republic so that we can hold meaningful elections in 2014 and in 2016, and that depends on the House and its handling of the immigration issue.

The House must KILL the Senate’s bill, without writing their own, so that no bill goes to reconciliation.

Should that happen, the GOP is finished, and our Republic as well.

The GOP has this one last chance to get it right. The US Senate got it wrong and those 14 traitors must pay the price.

Every traitorous GOP House member shall also pay the same price. Primaried out of office.

Sarah Palin put the House on notice yesterday. I’m all for a Third Party should the House do anything but KILL the Senate’s bill, but won’t it be a little too late?

Again, thanks so much for your excellent essay/column. Brilliant!
