Day 16 (Week #4) Zimmerman Trial – Witness Discussion Thread
The Conservative Treehouse ^ | July 1, 2013 | Sundance

Posted on 07/01/2013 5:17:35 AM PDT by Uncle Chip

Today, July 1st, is DAY #16 (of 4th week) State of Florida V. George Zimmerman case.

Last week the prosecution feebly presented the first series of witnesses against George Zimmerman. However, as most observers would note, the witnesses called by the state have so far been more beneficial for the Zimmerman Self-Defense position.

No excuses for incorrect spelling. Go to the “shame” room and write the correct spelling of the word 500 times on the blackboard.

They certainly do have cause for concern.

Yes, they do. My point was that I think fear will overcome their right/wrong feelings on putting an innocent man in jail. I hope I'm wrong and their conscience is stronger than their fear.

What you said.
Also:
Remember the testimony by GZ that the prosecution played, the quote was TM said “You got me”.
Then GZ pushed TM off and got up. No need for further use of weapon.

Thank you for that onyx, the last thing I want or need is trouble with people I don’t even know! This whole trial is kinda scary in that the implications of what comes next is unnerving.

I’m with you btw, twitter is loaded with some very very odd people. I’ve had weirdos come at me with some pretty vile stuff so I stay clear unless it’s something Congress is doing.

btw, are you watching any of the live feed from Egypt? It is quite remarkable.

I think GZ should be found not guilty but you can’t discount a female jury wondering about why he got out of the car.

Women will understand the difference between simple fear (dogs, lightning, the dark, walking alone, etc.) and a fear for one's life (knife to neck, head being bashed into concrete, rising flood waters at one's door, house on fire, gun in face, etc.).

Women are not stupid.

Things cause fear all the time, and women as well as men and children have to continue on with their lives and move beyond that fear. A confrontation where one is in fear for one's life is not the same as a simple fear of getting out of one's car to identify a location or follow a subject at a distance, get a name off a street sign, etc.

I'm sorry you can't understand the difference. Have a pleasant evening.

I am a woman. What I personally would do is entirely different than what my husband would do. I expect the jurorswould consider that.

I’m not sure who all is female on this thread. I never even thought to bother to look...lol. Call it paranoia or what you will (maybe concealed-carry training 101?)....but I do know that, being a female, I would have never allowed T to get that close to me or sneak up on me if I was the least bit afraid or suspicious of him. And trust me...I’m suspicious of anyone that approaches me, at night especially, if I don’t know them.

"Yes, told not to follow."

Onyx, that is not correct. He was told; "We don't NEED you to follow him" He was never commanded NOT to follow.

Noticed those watches, too.

Wonder how much that awful wig costs and how many wigs she owns!

I’d venture a bet that either of those watches is available at any city street corner for $15.

You are right about that . It’s exactly what my wife keeps saying to me.. “GZ started this when he got out of the truck. “. Therefore he deserves some of the responsibility. My wife would not support a murder conviction, but I suspect she would have agreed to a lesser charge.

Damn illogical women! I hope my marriage survives this trial. /s

Detective in Zimmerman case said he was pressured to file charges

The lead Sanford Police investigator who sought manslaughter charges against George Zimmerman told the FBI that a sergeant and two other officers tried to pressure him into making an arrest in the controversial case — even though he didn’t think there was enough evidence.

Sanford Police Officer Chris Serino first made headlines when evidence released in the case showed he sought manslaughter charges against Zimmerman even while his chief publicly said there was no probable cause to arrest him. But a document released late Thursday casts doubt on Serino’s prior sworn affidavit seeking criminal charges, and raises questions about the credibility of the star law-enforcement witness in the murder case against Zimmerman for the shooting death of a black teenager, Miami Gardens high school junior Trayvon Martin..

Telling the FBI that he was concerned that people inside the police department were leaking information, Serino cited Sgt. Arthur Barnes, officers Rebecca Villalona and Trekelle Perkins “as all pressuring him to file charges against Zimmerman after the incident,” an FBI report said. “Serino did not believe he had enough evidence at the time to file charges.”

The summary of Serino’s statement does not mention the race of the officers who allegedly pressured him, but sources told The Miami Herald that Barnes and Perkins are black, and Villalona is married to an African-American man. All three, the source said, had been called in by their supervisor and questioned about leaking information in the case.
