I’ll tell you what went wrong..I refuse to see ANY movie with racist Jamie Foxx..loves Trayvon Martin and repeatedly shows how much he hates white people..that is what went wrong..people dont want to see a movie with a guy who trashes their race

"Roland Emmerich has experience both directing blockbuster hits ("2012," "The Day After Tomorrow""

Neither of those two flicks were blockbuster hits. They both bombed.

I’m the wrong person to ask, because I don’t like these type of movies, but: How many times can you blow up the White House and have it still be exciting? How many times can you see a city destroyed with special effects and it still be exciting?
But, movies have to be made for the overseas market. They like all special effects, no plot, expensive movies.

$25.7 million? That’s way too much.

I’m betting the only people who can afford to go to the movies anymore are kids and teens and they just want to see superhero movies and sophomoric sex comedies.

Maybe because the same movie was out three months ago “Olympus has Fallen”.

Or maybe because it is liberal leaning in its message - turns off about 1/2 (and growing) of the population.

Maybe it just sucks.

Neither of those two flicks were blockbuster hits. They both bombed.

Actually, they both big hits. The rule of thumb is that a movie has to make double its budget in worldwide ticket sales to break even. 2012 cost $200 million and made $769 million. The Day After Tomorrow cost $125 million and made $544 million.

“But why didn’t the lower information citizens want to see it?”

Because Jamie Foxx was a fictional Obama who acts like a real man and that obviously isn’t as believable as Superman or Star Trek.

It was the second “Die Hard at the White House” in 3 months, and the previews didn’t really show it as being markedly different (or really even separately identifiable from) “Olympus has Fallen”. And with World War Z still playing strong it faced hard competition on the action/ adventure front.

Probably because its not a crappy re-hash of an original classic movie which seems to the the moneymaking trend in film-making these days.

I watched some of a replay of a Foxx interview with Opra. she asked do you care what people think of you. He said. Only the ones of color.

I will never spend any money on a film of his again.

I think people see it as a racist prop for Obama. No thanks.

"The rule of thumb is that a movie has to make double its budget in worldwide ticket sales to break even."

I was just reading today that a $200 million dollar movie has to make a billion to make money.

Jamie Foxx isn’t Harrison Ford, and this isn’t 1997.

2012 did so-so domestically (actually brought in a lot but budget was too high for profitability), but scored 600 million on the international market. Day After did well both domestically and internationally. Neither was a bomb.
