How did the Republicans do that? The Republicans haven’t had control of Detroit for I don’t know how many decades.
He didn't have an answer. He's chosen his reality and he's sticking to it come hell or high water. Keep in mind that this is a very intelligent 6 figure earner who works right in downtown Detroit. He didn't even know about the disappearance and criminal investigation of city council president Charles Pugh.

If you have no idea what is going on in your city’s political arena it makes it so much easier (in your own mind) to blame the Republicans for everything that is bad happening.
