Live Thread: Egypt Revolution 2.0
Various sources | Wednesday, July 3, 2013 | Kristinn

The Egyptian army has set a deadline of 4 p.m. Cairo time for the Muslim Brotherhood government of President Morsi to compromise with the people of Egypt (by stepping down.) Morsi refuses. 18 people were killed and 200 were wounded in clashes at Cairo University last night.

A Washington Post report from Cairo on dueling statements from Morsi and the army:

Waving his hands and shaking his fists in a 45-minute speech on national television late Tuesday, Morsi swore that he was committed to the democratic process that brought him to power and said that any attempts to subvert the constitution were “unacceptable.”

The army, in turn, posted a message to its Facebook page saying: “We swear to God that we will sacrifice even our blood for Egypt and its people, to defend them against any terrorist, radical or fool.”

In his speech, Morsi acknowledged that he had made mistakes during his year in office as Egypt’s first democratically elected president. But he appealed to Egyptians to give him more time to deal with the country’s problems.

Pro-Morsi people are definately posting photos of the opposition crowds saying they are Pro Mosi people. News agencies can’t tell the difference.

Hard to get good shots in this revolt for they are putting up photos that are either not current or steal them from the opposition sites...good grief they even put one up of Afghanistan clerics supporting Morsi when he was first running as if it was today!

I used to go to BBC to get a more realistic view of world news. Now, even they are being ‘managed’ to feed only the approved lines to the people in the West.

That's exactly right....any revolution opposing the Global agenda will be twisted to be something other than it is by the media. Egypt's 'Independence' is not part of their program... BBC has swung to the left no doubt.

Well, I know people in the Egyptian military and Americans who have trained them.

The Egyptian military is prepared for this. After seeing the HUGE outpouring and demonstrations against Morsi, they acted and are doing so with the backing of the people.

If Morsi's supporters and the Muslim Brotherhood push them...they will absolutely eradicate them. They will not play "footsies" with them or try to have ROEs that attempt to "make friends."

They know what is at stake, and saw where it was going. Morsi was supporting Al Quida and the Al Quida rebeles in Syria and Libya. He was closing ranks with Hamas and preparing for war with Israel.

The Egyptian military and most people in Egypt do not want to go there, and will not go there. They know what it is likely to mean. They will fight the Islamic extremists and Muslim Bortherhood in Egypt first, and eradicate them before they let that happen.

This is what we are seeing in Egypt...and it is likely that these Islamic extremists will push it to a fight...one they will lose becuase I do not believe the Egyptian military will fight with kid gloves or with one armed tied behind their back.

A strong, in your face, and abject example needs to be made of these radical terrorists and Egypt has the means, and I believe the will, to do so. I pray they do...and set Obama and his cohorts, abettors, and handlers back by decades and give us time to regroup here and show them all the door ourselves.

Yes..and I agree with your post...

The Egyptian Army was well coordinated before the opposition march, over several months ahead in fact. They knew this was coming.

I am seeing several bloody photos where individuals have been shot,(we know the MR loves to post those), but they have few truthful photos out there...a great deal of propaganda writings over tweet and via news sites..but just “paper”.

I also note there are few who can write or speak English...so they are not communicating except to their own Morsi supporters throughout this revolt.

I trust some here are keeping an eye on the borders..Israel etc. There’s been some activity there as well..but of course Israel will handle it. They were also prepared.

But it’s got Morsi’s picture on it so I figured not a reporter...especially since they’re supposedly crying out “where are the Journalists”.
