Democracy itself is a terrible form of government. Democracy = mob rule. The American left LOVES democracy of course. Hugo Chavez loved democracy. So does the Muslim Brotherhood apparently.
In a republic, the rights of the minority are protected from oppression by voting majorities.
Jeanne Kirkpatrick, a true American patriot and hero, had a saying about the sorts of Democracy we see in Venezuela, Egypt, Turkey and elsewhere. She said she was opposed to states where elections were “One man, one vote, one time!”
