Feds: Beavercreek (Ohio) violates civil rights (no bus service from the 'hood to their mall)

BEAVERCREEK, Ohio (WDTN) - The Federal Highway Administration's Office of Civil Rights says the City of Beavercreek is in violation of the civil acts right when it denied the RTA's request to add a bus stop near the Mall at Fairfield Commons.

The ruling states, "FHWA Office of Civil Rights, having examined the facts and the law, finds that LEAD has provided sufficient evidence to support its Title VI allegations that African Americans have faced discriminator impact as a result of the city's decision to deny the RTA's application to install bus stops along Pentagon Boulevard in the city."

The FHWA now recommends that the city develop and implement a new transit stop plan for which the RTA can resubmit it's request to the new bus stops.

The Ohio Department of Transportation will oversee the city's response and assist it in the implementation.

Beavercreek leaders must now re-hear the RTA'S application for the three proposed bus stops.

The Leaders for Equality and Action in Dayton (LEAD) first made its complaint about the bus stop denial in August 2011. It said the city failed to comply with the Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 (Title VI).

LEAD held rallies and flooded city meetings with their complaints, while the city said their decision was not based on race.

The same happened in West Palm Beach, They just knocked down the mall on Palm Beach Lakes Boulevard because of feral youth. The place became abandon because people feared going there due to violent crime.

That mall was forced to impose a curfew type rule requiring young people to be accompanied by an adult after 6pm to cut down on fights and other incidents of intimidation.

Many malls are doing this now and that's unfortunate. Most teens are law-abiding and many have the disposable income that shop owners covet. This is why in any typical mall about half the stores are geared towards teens. Restricting their access to the mall hurts business.

Sadly, PC dictates that we must punish everyone for the actions of a few with such blanket policies.

We have a curfew like that at a local upscale mall. My two teenage daughters love to shop there because it has all the stores they like. there are times they want to go alone (and I can’t or don’t want to accompany them) and they can’t because of it. and yes, they go there to SHOP and spend the money they make at their JOBS- not roam around in packs looking for trouble like the others that caused this curfew! So in addition, those stores lose a lot of money that the suburban youth would spend if they would just stop being PC and crack down on only the trouble makers.

Man the Dayton Mall used to be luxury. I didn't know it started to get over-run with "yutes".

Shame.

It is a shame, and I will not go to the new Walmart over there alone. There are two bus stops very conveniently located right outside the doors.

So was the Salem Mall. When I shopped there, it was a really first-class place. Then the "minority youths" overran it. Now it's practically deserted. I think only Sears is still open. The parking lot is used during the Dayton Hamvention, which is now the only time I see what used to be the Mall.

Having that history as an example, the folks in Beaver Creek simply don't want their Mall destroyed by "minority youths" coming by bus from the ghetto.

Except how are the welfare parasites and their feral offspring going to travel to where us taxpayers live and ruin those places we enjoy if we don't subsidize the means of transportation that get them here?

Federal Highway Administration's Office of Civil Rights

I see a money saving permanent cut if I ever got the chance.

Here's a strange situation. In Baltimore, there is a mall called Mondawmin. It is right on the subway line. For some reason, even though the clientele is 99.9% Amish, they don't have the yute problems that suburban "white" malls have.

Guess it's the "you don't poop where you eat" philosophy.

And when I would go there, (rarely) I was one of literally three non-black customers in a three story building, but I never felt threatened or unsafe.

Things may have changed in the past 20 years, though.

I did some contract work in that area. After hours, I would take my inline speed skates to Lantana to skate at the Palace. The hardwood floor was superb. Most of the skaters were speed skaters, so I fit right in. A visit to Greenacres where roller hockey was favored was a less enjoyable place. They used a very rough "sport court" concrete surface. Guaranteed to remove flesh if you fall.

I just checked the state of "the Palace". Out of business. Turning into a big furniture store.

My last attempts to enjoy indoor rink skating ended in a fall over a fat slob of a teenager. The owner permitted chasing balls across the floor with no care to the safety of those who weren't chasing balls.
