The debris starts at the seawall at the end of the runway. It appears that it came in too low and clipped the seawall.
I guess what surprises me is that, even given that this was a Saturday afternoon and the “B” team was on the field, that it took ostensible news networks so long to begin collecting and properly interpreting real news, instead of regurgitating few facts and speculating unintelligent on those few facts.
I also find it quite amazing the the kinetic energy that the plane had as it approached land, was dissipated by the impact, shearing off the tail, then in the collapse of the landing gear and the slide the seemingly short distance to where it came to rest. Even if these pilots are $hitcanned, they were very lucky in this situation.
