The “AR” in AR-15 does NOT mean “assault rifle”(it refers to the original design, ArmaLite Rifle), though it is probably too late to overcome that prejudice in the minds of low-information voters. These semi-automatic side arms only fire ONCE with a squeeze of the trigger. They are not machine guns, the possession of which is strictly controlled by law.
