The George Zimmerman trial is the worst fear of every black family
The Guardian ^ | July 7, 2013 | David Dennis

Posted on 07/07/2013 5:13:36 PM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet

The Trayvon Martin case has been nothing short of heartbreak from the very beginning. Regardless of what anyone believes about Trayvon's past, his innocence or George Zimmerman's, the fact remains that a teenager is dead. I honestly didn't think I would get emotionally broken up more than I was over the story that Rachel Jeantel's friendship with Martin stemmed from the fact he was one of the only people who never picked on her. The story painted such a tragic picture of friendship and two people whose lives will never be the same.

Then came this week's testimonies and reactions from Trayvon Martin's parents to leave me – and so much of America – floored. On Friday morning, Sybrina Fulton took the stand to talk about her son. As part of her testimony she had to identify her child's screams in his finals seconds of life. Later in the day, Tracy Martin had to sit in court as the medical examiner, Dr Bao, explained how Trayvon died in severe pain and was alive for minutes after getting shot in the chest.

Essentially, Friday – almost as much as the day Trayvon was shot – was any parent's nightmare. Trayvon's parents had to come face to face with their son's murder while Fulton got questioned over whether or not her son actually deserved to get killed. Tracy had to sit in the same room as the man who shot his son in the chest, unable to retaliate or let the rage he has to be feeling out.

Yes, this is the worst imaginable day for a parent. But it's one the parents of an African-American child has been conditioned to accept as a possibility....

Naturally, in the FAR more likely case of your black teen being killed by another black - that’s ok ... get over it.

We have raised children, and are in the process of raising 11 grandchildren. Of this family - NOT A SINGLE ONE has ever had a run-in with the law. Sure, there are some speeding and parking tickets; but not a single case of drugs, not a single case of assault, not a single case of being kicked out of school.

Perhaps it’s because we are responsible parents, and we have taught our children to be responsible parents?

But, that’s just silly “cracker” crazy talk ...

The show is nothing more than a continuing effort by favored political constituents to goad commoners into fighting with each other. The vast majority of people—those unheard in politics—should ignore it and focus more on the real sources of social and economic ruination in this country.

Trayvon's parents had to come face to face with their son's murder

Apparently David Dennis slept through the part of Journalism 101 where they tell you that it isn't murder UNTIL THE DEFENDANT IS CONVICTED, which by the way appears increasingly less likely.

I don't write for a living and I know that. The correct wording is "their son's untimely death" or something to that effect, but NOT murder. What a dumbass.

Ms T.M didn't hear a voice on that recording, she heard the sound of a cash register. The loss of a son doesn't give her a free pass to lie under oath. I understand the anger but I don't understand the greed.

I suspect Travon Martin was one of those. Maybe there was something good about him, one never knows for sure but it sure looks like he was a thug.

Sadly, blacks exalt the thug culture. Note the wearing of the ritual hoodie, a garment used to hide one's identity, by an outpouring of thug sympathizers. It is the thug culture that causes the needless and tragic deaths of these black children.

I'm sorry to be blunt, but doesn't it seem like the MOST racist, hate-filled people tend to be the lightest skinned blacks?

The first time I saw Julian Bond, I had NO idea that he was "black".

But boy does he hate white people.

Reminds me of Malcolm X. He had red hair and spoke extensively of his hatred that he carried "white blood" within him.

I just don't get it.

Self-loathing? Trying to establish street cred?

The article reflect the illusions of black Americans.

Who do they think would “gun down their honorable son?” Someone in authority or someone with aggression to black people. But what is the truth?

Black people are killed by black people. Overwhelmingly so.

He also pointed out that “people” were mean to Rachel Jeantel, that Trayvon didn’t pick on her. But who *did* pick on her? It probably wasn’t white people. Again, black people being mean to black people.

So the best advice to black parents of an “honorable” black son?

Take them as far away as possible from black people.

Find a place full of white, Asian, Hispanic, Native American Indian, but very, very few black people. If their honorable black son is indeed honorable, and associates with honorable people of other races, he will likely do well, and not be under threat of being attacked or killed by black people.

Does one even need to look at the pic to realize that the writer is just another racist affirmative action hire?

I’m an Australian, hard for me to make a comment, but it all reminds me of the poor poor palestinians, still clinging to the right of return after several generations, still playing the victim card.
After being used as pawns by their own kind. I think MX comes across as the greatest disaster for race relations of all time.

Trayvons parents failed to teach him that some folks may react poorly to being beat upon. However some American subcultures cannot grasp the concept that assaulting someone just because you want to is not acceptable. Like in the old west the indians didnt understand why the whites would shoot at them for stealing horses.

Even kids from good families can be sucked into popular culture. The black couple next door had two boys. The older son became a doctor. The younger son became a felon.

67 Shot in Chicongo over holiday weekend

I wonder who won the ghetto lottery? In the "comments" sections of some of the local news sites, posters will run what they call the "ghetto lottery" and try to guess the killed/wounded for a future time period. 12/55 is pretty impressive; I don't think I saw anyone guess that high for Independence Day.

I read an article on FR and went to the link....all the posters at the source site where running their lottery and commenting, 'it was still early in the weekend' (Friday).
