Tropical Storm Chantal has formed in the North Atlantic. If the storm can survive wind shear and interaction with the mountains of Hispaniola, it may eventually become a threat to the U.S.

Darned pseudo-socialist government we have in Puerto Rico, the Governor activated the Dry Law at 6:00 PM (no sales of alcohol). No wonder people stock up on that before anything else.

Now for the serious business, the U.S. Coast Guard has closed all harbors along the south and western sides of the island. San Juan International Airport remains open. Ferry service to the outlying little islands is suspended. The two cruise ships that operate out of San Juan during summertime are out there somewhere but their turn around on Saturday and Sunday are unaffected. We still have electricity and internet which is an achievement (this party now in power is notorious for shutting off all power plants at the slightest provocation).

So overall, all’s okay down here. Good luck to you guys west and north of us.

I'm all for the speed ... the more quickly they pas the better .... the water's still not super warm ... it is odd that it's moving so quickly AND building .... if it's going to hit let's hope it's at sanford when the not guilty verdict comes in on Friday afternoon

I sure do miss her. But The Widow MaryAnn ( Wife of an old friend & neighbor ) and The Widow Christa ( She lives 3 houses down ) seem to be vying for my attention.

I hope Chantal will veer off into the GOM so I won’t have to deal with The Cute Cat Lady ( see first widow ) being scared to death. But if she is I will deal with it. Can’t say how that second widow deals with storms since I haven’t known her long. She’s trying to get me to join her choir.

Oddly enough, that was how Miss Emily & I got together. Singing.
