Given the evidence, Hamilton Burger could have gotten GZ an acquital.
Is this a defense witness only? Did the prosecution have someone else who offerred a different opinion?
If the state had this info and decided to prosecute anyway, someone should go to jail or be disbarred, or both.

Different states have different laws, but in Florida all that is required for justifiable use of deadly force is that the person holds "a reasonable fear of imminent peril of death or great bodily harm to himself or herself or another." Further in the statute it adds the possible commission of a forcible felony as justification.
There are some reasonable caveats to that, of course. For instance, if a law enforcement officer enters a dwelling during performance of his official duties, a person obviously cannot shoot him (i.e. a gangbanger cannot shoot a cop who enters his house to arrest him). None of these exceptions would apply to the Zimmerman case.
Wow. These jurors are going to have to disregard a lot of evidence, the overwhelming majority of it in favor of Zimmerman’s innocence, to find him anything but “not guilty”. I don’t see how they could do otherwise, in good conscience. If they do otherwise, it’ll be blatantly clear that the fix was in.
I am amazed at the patience and tolerance of the entire Zimmerman family...I don’t know if I would be so forgiving and reasonable dealing with people trying to lynch a member of my family...

Unfortunately, this won’t do a thing to prevent the rioting beause Di Maio is a white guy and can’t be trusted. Wouldn’t help if he was black either, because he’d be a Tom by definition and also couldn’t be trusted. What have you got when you’ve got a bunch of people who can’t be dissuaded by any evidence, no matter how good it is, and no matter who the messenger is? Racists.
If blacks do full scale rioting over this, Republicans are going to work to get all ‘disabled’ cases reevaluated.
Gotta see some of the comments on Facebook from 6 degrees of separation away. They justify Martin bashing Zimmerman’s head on the concrete because they say that’s what they would do if someone was following them. So, having your head bashed in (it only takes one blow to kill someone) and you are not justified in shooting them BUT if you are followed, you are justified in possibly killing that person. Got it?
I have tried to follow this case very closely. One thing I have not heard: did the break-ins stop after Travon died?
If Zimmerman is found innocent and there’s the slightest sign of violence, Obama had better make an extremely serious public plea for “his people” to restrain themselves, and he’d better explain that it was a fair trial and strong evidence pointed to Zimmerman’s innocence.

I'm not a lawyer, but I've taken multiple courses covering the law as regards self defense.
If somebody punches you AND STOPS or runs away, you do not have the right to use deadly force, because it is not needed to stop the attack. The attack is already stopped.
You do not have the right to use deadly force in revenge or retaliation, only to STOP an attack from proceeding further. Thus, if a big/strong/fit man hits, and looks like he will continue to hit, somebody smaller/weaker, and the force of the assault may reasonably be assumed to be able to cause death or grievous bodily harm, then you may use deadly force to stop the attack.
Trayvon, at the instant the shot was fired, was engaged in a serious beating of Zimmerman, which had caused head injuries, and could reasonably be assumed to be able to cause brain damage if it continued. Zimmerman was pinned to the ground and unable to escape. By accepted standards of self defense, Zimmerman was justified in firing in order to STOP the assault from proceeding further.
How do you say”NOT GUILTY”?Somebody needs to be disbarred for this politicly opportunistic Prosecution.

That assumes Obama doesn’t want riots.
They want a conviction,
but there’s a reason they want a conviction.
They hate the idea that someone defended themselves,
especially with a firearm,
against a thug who is a member of a politically favored group.
Rumors that even if Z is acquitted the politicized Justice Dept will bring him up on civil rights violation-let’s see if they are so arrogant with the belief they can now get away with anything because, after all, who will complain, the news media?
