The other way is to cut off, 100%, ALL gov bennies from free school to free emergency rooms to FS and anything else. And for the rest of the takers, they have to show valid ID for everything.

You can’t do that unless you provide tools to figure out who’s legal, and allow employers to require extra documentation if they think someone’s illegal. Right now, they can’t fire someone if their e-verify result indicate fraud, so how can they be held responsible?
Naw, a fine is a one time thing. If you want to really get busineess to stop hiring illegals, require the company to set aside 30% of the person’s salary every time they are paid in escrow account until such time as that employee can pass the e-verify system. Once the employee passes e-verify, the funds are released from escrow.
The cost of the paperwork alone will make employers verify before hire.
