It seems clear that TM attacked GZ. Was that a defensive move? I don’t think so. Was GZ going for him with a gun for 2nd murder? No freaking way. Manslaughter at worst.

I’m not sure the author was watching the same trial as I did. Nearly all the prosecution witnesses came out in favor of Zimmerman. Those that did not were easily impeached or perjured themselves on the stand based on prior statements.
Stand your ground had nothing to do with this. Both had a legal right to be where they were, but Trayvon decided to be a thug and assault someone who happened to be armed.
