I’d call this another reason to go Mac, except that Apple also cooperated with NSA in accessing customer activities. Second look at Linux?

Microsoft has collaborated closely with US intelligence services to allow users’ communications to be intercepted, including helping the National Security Agency to circumvent the company’s own encryption, according to top-secret documents obtained by the Guardian.

Maybe it is time to reacquaint ourselves with snail mail. With an FR wax seal,

Haven’t used Outlook in years. My computer doesn’t like MS Internet Explorer or Outlook.

Another reason to switch to Mac? Didn't the NSA get Apple's assistance too?

Isn't that the organization which photographs every single envelope, post card and package which it processes?

Anyone who wanted to communicate securely could just write their own code and compile it. The source for unbreakable encryption algorithms is widely available.

I wish I didn’t have a job that requires me to be online. I can’t imagine I would be here. We already improved our live greatly by ditching satellite TV. The FR and other forums are nice, but I would like to opt out of all this government spying nonsense. Voluntarily disconnecting seems like one of the only options. I have seen others advocate Linux, but I haven’t managed to figure out how to use it yet.

The Fed stopped suing his company.
Remember the “Windows Explorer” nonsense.

As the author himself noted in the rest of the same sentence. I occasionally read posts superficially, but reading only the first clause of the first sentence and raising an objection raised in the second clause of the same sentence?? Are you going some sort of FreeRepublic record in the most-cursory reading category?

I was just thinking about this the other day.

Reportedly at least half the profiles on Facebook are total fakes. And since you need an email address to open your Facebook account, it is obviously not to hard for a fake person to get that either.

Let’s say hypothetically I am at the NSA and intercept an email saying that anthrax is going to be released in Times Square at 8:45AM on Tuesday. The email is marked I.P. Freely or Allah Allah Oxinfree. Absolutely NO way to trace that back to an actual person to be investigated.

Hence not only is the NSA program blowing-up our Constitutional rights. It is flushing literally billions upon billions of dollars down a rathole.

These companies are so huge and intertwined with so many gov’t agencies that they either cooperate or they get “cut out” of the favoritism shown by Big Brother.

Linux?

Have been using it since 1994, and I am 65 years old now.

Built my first PC in 1982
