Europe didn’t die at Auschwitz.

Europe died in the mud of Verdun, the Somme, Paaschendaele and a hundred other stinking hellholes that killed 10,000 men a day, seven days a week, 52 weeks a year for over four years.

Auschwitz just represented the death throes of a dying civilization.

Society in some respects is comparable to a productive and beautiful garden. However, from time to time the garden has to be cleansed (weeded) to prevent the unproductive intrusion of plants that deplete the soils resources. Where European Jews were concerned the most productive plants were systematically destroyed ... leaving the weeds to overwhelm an otherwise beautiful and productive garden.
