Maybe, maybe not. I read the judge’s instructions to the jury, and the application of the affirmative defense of self-defense to the manslaughter charge was not spelled out as clearly as its application to the second degree murder charge. If they were asking for a clarification of that point (and got an honest description of the law in reply) it might be good news.
