I KNOW I am not going anywhere near my usual pet shop for a while. It is caddy-corner from a mostly-minority-occupied housing project. Since the pet shop lost their lease and moved across the street from its former location, I now always have to pass a corner filled with Trayvon lookalikes, which doesn’t make me feel any too secure. Friday, there was a particular massing of them in the vicinity of the pet shop, and I told my buddy there behind the counter that I hoped they didn’t announce the verdict until I had a chance to get home. I advised them to close early and pull their solid metal barrier down. That pet shop has other branches, and I do believe I’ll buy my lizards’ crickets at one of those for a while. I do hope that none of the stores in that vicinity have any vandalism as a result of the verdict.
You take care EinNYC! I live out in the sticks, so don’t have to worry. Closest to me is a small university town. Quite liberal, and the ‘city kids’ from Philly and Pittsburgh take classes starting in the summer. Still, I don’t expect we’ll see much trouble.
I hope.
