Not only that, but how does that compare with the number of murders over a similar time frame before Martin? With no comparison, the number is meaningless.
I suspect that is 11,000 “homicides” (which include suicide), instead of 11,000 “murders”.
I note this because in rebuttal against gun liberty, the gun controllers point out that Arizona ranks 11th in the nation for gun “homicides”. But what they don’t mention is that 71% of those gun homicides are gun suicides. If you eliminate suicides from the statistics, Arizona is close to dead last.
It has been about a year, and that is approximately our annual run rate on murders.
I had found similar black on black data on a CDC report via google. The 11,000 figure is pretty much right.
